26650 top Mah?

Hi:

I know that there are some top-notch battery techies around here, as I have read their fact-filled posts a few times. This question is directed to them.

I seem to remember reading a while back that the top Mah for current 26650 batteries is 2200 Mah. Of course, now I can’t find that site, which I think was a white-paper of some kind. Or maybe I read it wrong. Or maybe I was dreaming.

Anyway, I have a couple Keygos 26650s which are rated at 4800Mah. Is this accurate, or is it just more Chinese Mah puffery?

What is the REAL top Mah for 26650s right now?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm no battery techie, but I'll chime in. The King Kong 26650's have been tested to about 4,500mAh. The Trustfire Flame 26650 ("5000mAh" has been tested to about 4,300mAh). Those Keygos were tested to 2,951mAh.

EDIT: A good reference is the "26650 Batteries" thread. See the first post.

Thanks … I’m checking that out now. I should have looked more carefully. I just did a site search and ended up with too many irrelevant threads …. and didn’t look at the stiickies … live and learn.

Where did I get that 2200 mah top limit stuck in my head? Maybe I really dreamed it …. Or was it for a specific li-ion chemistry? Oh well, if anyone knows, please let me know.

You may have been thinking about A123 26650s. Those have a capacity close to that.

My King Kongs ICR 26650 4,000 mAh don't do well ... after 2 weeks sitting in the light they loose 50% power ???
