How do you carry your EDC folder (knife)?

When you are able to legally carry an EDC folder (knife), how do you prefer to carry it? I think I might have found my sweetspot ;). SRM LB-763 clipped to the inside of my belt, or pants, at 1 o’clock just next to the hip bone. Safe, it doesn’t protrude, and I can’t feel its there at all. Clipped inside pockets is to low for my taste, and I like to be able to use my pockets without having a knife in the way.

My Enlan EL01 is clipped in my right front pocket . My Balder SE-1 is clipped in my left front pocket .

My normal pants have a small pocket with in the front pocket. I keep a Enlan EL-02 on the right and Balder SE-1 on the left.

Clipped, tip up in right rear pocket. Usually, anyway.

Like Cone, clipped inside my right rear pants pocket.

That's the point. Here I'm never legal to carry a folder knife. For the law I'm not supposed to need an EDC knife, LOL!

Knives can be considered tools and tolerated under certain circumstances (going hunting, sub, fishing, just to name a few) but there's no way a Policeman would consider legal to let me carry a knife of any kind (fix or fold) in my pockets or belts, when am just walking in town.

Any spring-action knife is forbidden at all, thus confiscated if found.

I have with me all the time a Leatherman Super Tool with its leather pouch on my belt.

It's easily my best purchase ever, used thousands of times. Deserves its Super Tool name.

But I know it's still questionable for the law, because from one point of view it's a tool that happens to have also a blade inside. And extraction + opening times needing two hands for sure makes it not a handy knife for someone with bad intent.

But from the other point of view it's still (sort of) a knife with a 4" blade.

Untill now I've been lucky and nobody ever cared about it.

Good to know. :) I guess I shouldn't have been carrying a Benchmade Griptilian while there.

Right front pocket clipped in. Been doing it that way for so many years that it has become second nature. I know I have a knife at the ready. All the time so it gets used more often than having to think about it.

I carry this little folder on my keyring and it covers my needs :-)

I only carry my wallet, phone and keys.

My “EDC” torch and knife are in my toolbox in my car, I’m never far away from my car if I ever need anything.

It sounds like you have the same rules as here in Ireland.
Luckily, we don’t need knife’s for self defense, and unless you got yourself into trouble of some kind to give the Guards reason to search you, nobody would ever know you were carrying a knife.
I have a few small key ring knife’s i switch between. I usually carry a Spyderco Jester sprint on my keys, held on by a couple of quick release clips so i can remove it fairly easily. If i’m working or walking the dogs i should have enough reason to carry it i hope, otherwise, i’d often remove it from my keys if going to the shops etc.

I like mine in the corner of my right front pocket.

I just carry the SRM 604 loose in my right pocket when I carry it. Any other knife would be carried just if there was a specific need so in a coat pocket or backpack.

It’s so light I carry a 604 clipped at the top of a front pocket and it doesn’t interfere with using the pocket . . unless I feel the need for something bigger then it’s usually in rear pocket.

Don’t worry about the legalities. People have been charged for causing grevious hurt to others with* fruits*…… let alone knives. It’s the motive.

As long as you have a use for the knife. Of course EDC is not a valid reason in many countries.

SRM 710/763 corner right front pocket, directly at my side, can’t slide down the pocket and doesn’t obstruct use of the pocket.

Mine is in my left front pocket, right in the bottom corner Lately this has been a Kershaw Scamp. My light (any number that I have, usually a single 14500)

I also carry a multitool, Leatherman Charge TTi, on my belt, at ~3 ’clock.

Australia (well in my case specifically New South Wales), is so backwards when it comes to knives. I can buy a locking folding knife in any store, but cant import them personally. Cops will take them off you, but only if you are being a douche. I’ve carried knives for years, and never once had an issue. If you are a first-aider, they generally leave you alone.

clipped to the front left pocket (I’m a lefty).

Never gets in the way and the only other item in the pocket is my car key.

Clipped to the inside of my back right pocket, positioned all the way right on my hip . This is a pocket that if I didn’t carry a knife, it would go unused. So the penalty for carrying a knife there is nothing and it dosen’t interfere with my other pockets as I dig around for keys, change, ZL SC600W, etc.

This is why I put a premium on thin, light knives. I can carry a four inch folder and barely even notice it is there. Thick knives and rounded handles don’t work out too well. Even small knives don’t feel right clipped in my back pocket. There is a balance issue or something and I feel like I am going to lose it. A thin wide fairly long folder seems like the sweet spot. I think this is why I am liking Spydercos so much.

I also must note that I have not lost a knife since I started carrying one in the back pocket(eight or nine years). When I need it, I can quickly remove it from my back pocket then return it there wihtout thinking. I also think that it is easeir to subconsciously keep track of it in the dedicated right rear pocket. Similar to how you keep track of your wallet.

If I am in an environment where I get self conscious of my knife being visible, I unclip it and drop it the bottom of my pocket. It is not quite as comfortable or accessible, but do-able.

Shoot, I can even carry two decent sized folders in my back pocket, if neccesary, without a problem if I keep them flat and light. I went fishing the other day and had a Paramilitary 2 and a Pacific Salt SE back there, no problem.

It may not be the most fashionable way to carry a knife, but function trumps fashion every time for me. No matter what my daughters tell me.

In general - blades & keys on the right, lights & phone on the left. Specifics depend on what I am wearing and the knife in question or task at hand…

At work = SRM 605 clipped to top of right sock, or in the little hidden lighter pocket on the right hip that some of my dress slacks have. (Gotta love hidden pockets!)

Also carry a Leatherman Juice KF4 in my laptop bag, along with my mini “Get Home” kit at all times. Sometimes my Leen 1203-2 as well.

Off work, jeans = at least SRM 605 or 763 in the little lighter pocket inside the main right hip pocket, or clipped to my sock. Sometimes Kershaw Skyline or Enlan EL02B clipped to right pocket, or L05-1 (sans clip) in bottom of right pocket.

Off work, cargo pants/shorts = SRM 605 or 763 minimum, in or clipped to right hip pocket. Often also/or Skyline, L05-1, or EL02B in or clipped to right cargo pocket.

I do the IWB thing, about 1:30 canted 30 degrees near my hip bone, sometimes. But I am a skinny bastard so its not that comfortable if I am doing something active bending around and stuff.
