Review: FoxFury Breakthrough BT2 & BT3 (XP-E/XM-L | 4 x AA / 2 x 18650)

FoxFury has an established history of creating purpose-built tools catering to law enforcement, first responders & fire fighters. Their latest release, the Breakthrough series featuring SMO-KUT technology should be of particular interest for the last group:

The series comes in two flavors with the BT2 utilizing an XP-E LED and featuring a 2 degree beam angle (hence the number in the name). Likewise the BT3 features a 3 degree beam angle but achieved with an XM-L. Regardless of the LED in use, they are both terrific throwers. The initial portion of this review will be conducted in my standard format but I will be collaborating with a firefighter in the hopes of getting some real world use shots and feedback that will be incorporated in this review over time.

MORE TO COME...

Disclosure: BT2 & BT3 provided by FoxFury for review.

Damn those were way bigger than I expected them to be.
Great review turboBB!

Thanks very much for the review and the videos! Frontpage’d and Sticky’d.

Thanks for the review… always nice to see lights that are a little out of the ordinary.

A little out of the ordinary they are, but hardly budget lights with a 200$ pricetag!

They might make good boat lights.

Do they float ?

Thanks turboBB. Very nice video as usual. Are you doing your own run time testing?

I have an BT2 foxfury with a broken baseboard (main electronic piece), after I drop it down in a firerescue.
Is there any chance of finding a replacement motherboard in Europe. Where to order, please?
