Yes, that 550mAh minimum spec is correct. It’s in really tiny print, while the 700mAh claim is in even bigger type than the brand name….

The Sofirn are good mAh/$$ ($2.82/pair at FastTech), but the claimed capacity is far out even by Chinese-lumens standards (either someone got cute in adding a "1", or they mislabeled them with the capacity of their AA batteries....).

The Lenmar "Ready2Go" AAs are clearly not low self-discharge, being empty (or nearly so) even before the labelled "use by" date, and are a poor value compared to the Imedions -- both sets were $10.97.

The Lenmar "Ready2Go" AAAs aren't too bad, and were about half the cost of Eneloops at $5.97/four on sale.  Manufacturer only claims 80% charge retention after 6 months, which is on the low side for LSDs.  The capacity recorded during the discharge portion of the break-in (at 0.18A) was 772/771/773/761 mAh.

Hi there!

I saw your battery database thread from 2011 and also that you tested GP AAA Recyko batteries back then. For what it’s worth I wanted to share my results of a 4-pack that I bought today in South Africa. GP ReCyko+, “Stays charged for longer, use 1000 times” AAA size. On the blister pack the capacity is stated “min. 800mAh”.

I’ve tested a single battery from the pack so far and wanted to know if you’d like me to continue testing all 4. The reason why I am PM’ing you is because that thread had useful info for someone like me because I can’t buy Eneloops in SA, they’re simply not being imported here.

Results:
Out of the box the voltage was 1.28V, I discharged it as it was and the capacity was measured as 690mAh or 86.25% of the claimed capacity.
I then charged it full, let it rest for maybe around an hour, before the next discharge which showed a capacity of 824mAh

I tested on a Turnigy Accucell-6, charge/discharge current set at 0.5A, cutoff 0.9V, ambient temperature was 19 degrees C.

Kind regards

This thread/post/topic belongs to the BLF community , and anyone wishing to share ..

2012 I went to school so I could get my Double Diploma in IT , and I completed it in Dec 2013 .

So for two years I was too busy to do this thread / post justice . And it looks to have taken a life of its own ( Thats good ) , so please feel free to share .

This thread seems pretty outdated. In particular, the table in the first post has seen not updates since 2012. Does it still deserve to be a sticky?

Yeah, as far as I am concerned it does. It still has some good info in it.
Welcome to BLF also. Thumbs Up

OP is not testing batteries .. ( Well – other batteries )
+ The thread has taken a life of its own .

6 Years ago it was started .. How relevant is this thread ? ( How relevant do people want it to be ? )
It’s not just about the first post , but the information people add to it .

I have seen posts on other forums that are over 1000 pages , now that is a lot of information .
There was even one post that went Volume 2 ( Original post was abandoned and a 2nd started due to the volume of information and posts )
If some one were inclined to DO ( something ) , they could take all the info in this thread , create a data base and post said info in a new thread .. ( which may become a sticky )
It would be a lot of work , ……………….. Hmmm , who would be prepared to do such work ?

I did make a similar cell database a couple years ago but got bored maintaining it…

There is always my comparators and reviews, they are being updated multiple times each week.
I have given up on the charts showing all the cells, because I have tested too many cells to make decent looking charts.

My website with reviews of many chargers and batteries (More than 1000): https://lygte-info.dk/

Sorry, no.

I think there’s a huge value in having a database with all top choices (or better: all known choices). But I don’t have the time to create it, let alone maintain it.

HKJ’s site is superb. But nevertheless, it’s not good enough because it misses some important batteries.

www.dampfakkus.de is similar (tip to HKJ: tables that can be sorted by any column are great).

Digging on both sites is what I do now and I believe it’s about the best battery-finding strategy, for now.
I find searching this thread to be redundant as it’s unlikely to give me a better choice.
So for a question ‘Which battery should I use?’ this thread is no good.
There’s another important question that databases like this answer:
‘How good is this battery?’. This thread would help with such questions about as well when unstuck because a person doing such search would probably use a search tool anyway.
Am I missing something?
