1/3 of product reviews on vendor web sites are fake?

Hmmm and I thought those reviews on flashlight-vendor web sites were real. Not.

1/3 of all online product reviews are fake? (Of course, the source is AOL, not exactly a source for prize-winning journalism.)

I would guess that is true on more reputable sights but on places like DX or DD I would bet it is more.

Haven’t seen fake reviews @DX :expressionless: Well, I don’t remember them at least.
The only thing I can say is DD reviews are >95% fake  I have sent 3 good reviews with pros and cons… none of them has been posted |( But dozen of shitty reviews, i.e. “I like this lantern. Is very bright” :Sp

I'm not surprised. Some companies and/or people will do just about anything to make more money.

I have just the opposite experiences than you SashiX. I have sent one review to DX, which never was posted, probably too much negativity… :expressionless:
And two reviews to DD, which both were published. IMHO in DX many of the reviews just seem to be like: “great” “5 stars” “the Best” and comments like that…
Although in DD the review system is a bit strange since there are reviews in product page that really aren’t about that exact product, which makes it a little confusing…

Only 1/3 are fake???

My thoughts exactly. :P

Most of DD’s reviews are fake.

Real reviews would be like this

Hilarious!!!

i once new a green animal who wrote fake fleshlight reviews and accepted a bunch of giftcards in return

i dont bother reading customer reviews on DX, DD, amazon, .. they are the worst.

for months i've been tired of reading fl reviews, i cant even get thru goinggear fl video presentations.. :tired:

At least DX does not remove “bad” reviews.

I am not sure on the other reviews of this light, maybe the other reviewers have never seen a decent flashlight or bike light.
The led is much too blue, and it is almost impossible to screw the tailcap back on after replacing the batteries because the threads are terrible.

This one would not stay in the right position when riding the bike, i have fixed that by modifying it with this http://dx.com/p/t2008-aluminum-alloy-gun-barrel-laser-flashlight-mount-with-hex-wrench-33823?rt=1&p=0&m=0&r=3&k=1&t=1&s=36018&u=33823 .
I am still using it, and maybe i will replace the SSC-P7 with an XM-L to make it a little bit brighter.
(The three mode Ultrafire C2-T80 XM-L is brighter than the 3-led bike light, but it uses only one 18650, so runtime is too short.)

He admits it! :)

He, not me, doesnt work for them any longer :)

DX reviews seem pretty legitimate. Dino reviews are almost all fake. If they just show one name “Susan” then the review is fake. They are easy to pick out. Dino usually posts my reviews, but I wrote a bad review recently and they haven’t posted it yet. I’m thinking about giving them a lot of stars and then writing how bad it is anyway to see if that helps.

There are some fake reviews at Amazon, but a lot of good ones. You can usually tell.

There are some good reviews on DX but with one light I saw a review posted by "DX" talking about how good it was. Either way I would not listen to those reviews, the ones on BLF however. :D

Internet shopping is probably one of the most convenient things known to man. One can learn a bit about a product or business before they purchase, but one has to take evaluations with a severe grain of salt. It’s not known just how much, because it’s difficult to tell, but there are a lot of phony evaluations out there and one has to be careful. Article resource: Watch out for fake reviews while shopping online

Newegg & Amazon where the first place I found out about fake reviews. Most flashlight reviews are non-existant, thus BLF was created!

What used to kill me was lightakes reviews which were all real and it showed ..people bashing the hell out of lightake on their own site ..I'm pretty sure i wouldn't have people trashing my company on my own site .. real or not I'd review them and edit them ..

Amazon doesn’t have fake reviews, unless they were posted by the product’s own company or whatever.

They were actually the first company to fight for customer online reviews against vendors who thought poor reviews would ruin sales.

After the results of the then new Sipik SK98 started coming in through BLF, I started watching for reviews on that SKU on Manafont. None. None at all. I found that a bit hard to believe considering those things were well known to burn out so fast.

I’ve been ordering a lot of stuff from MF and have had positive experience with them, including getting a defective light replaced, but I’m having some BLF users telling me they are the worst of the bunch.

Too hard to sift through all this. Seems to me we are taking a gamble with every order we make to these Chinese companies. Everyone is going to take a hit now and then. Wish we had a better system of determining the quality of the seller and their ethics and practices. But someone recently mentioned on another thread that these companies are also, eventually, soured on being scammed by buyers as well, to the point they harden up and their customer service reps become quite jaded.

Fake reviews are just like all the political rhetoric available out there. Trying to sell something, depending heavily on the gullibility of the average internet user.

Thank the gods for BLF.
