I'm waiting on one last module to arrive before doing a planned P60 drop-in round-up/comparo but I couldn't wait to sing my praises about this new powerhouse from Erik.
Egrenade 3.7
Using a U2/1C emitter from LCK-LED and a KD driver programmed for two modes, this little cannon pulls 1.07 amps on "low" (about 400 lumens) and a dead steady 3.70 amps on high (900 lumens?) with an IMR. An unprotected Tenergy is good for 3.65 amps and with any battery, the Egrenade easily mops the floor with every module I own. In an L2P it is in fact, noticeably brighter than my 980L to the naked eye and an unscientific light meter comparison confirms this . . . at least to my satisfaction. (overall lumens output, not throw) It's enough brighter to be easily seen, side by side in a dark room.
As you might guess, it gets a little warm. No more so than the ubiquitous XM-L from Manafont (sku 5720) which, by the way, this module sends to bed early with no dinner and a bright red bottom.
Beam shots and details to follow once all contestants have arrived. If I were anticipating going up against this beast, I would be worried. Very worried.
This sounds orsm Foy. You'd better keep this one a secret in case the global warming mob get involved. May I ask how many different opponents there will be?
The U3 should be here either today or Monday. Just going to get all my P60 thoughts in one place but I am going to declare a winner among the XM-L's. Or, I should say, among my XM-L's.
I love making stuff for Foy, he always knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it to perform. Thanks for spending your own money and time to make comparisons like this possible. I can’t wait to see the results of this shootout.
That Vinz drop in is bad ass what a beautiful piece of machine work. Someone needs to come up with a complete plexiglass host so that beautiful piece can be seen at all times, hiding it inside a knurled black aluminum tube is a crying shame.
MRTdiver pointed out that I put the white cover on wrong in the picture. I just checked and I did heppen to get it on right upon reassembly. It must cover the open wires, I have it wrong here.
