$800 lamp anyone?

Little pricy but I look forward to the Chinese knock off.

VeryVery I interesting and simple design. I may build one of these.

If they are actually able to sell those for anywhere near ~$800 I'm changing professions....

Nice. Good to see LEDs being used in interesting ways.

It looks like a 4-up XT-E in the base.

8 bills a pop ? Wow.

eight Benjamins on a desk lamp might seem a little steep at first, but considering the fact a 1962 Castiglioni Arco is still priced around $ 2.300,— it surely is cheap enough for me to qualify for BLF.

Personally, I am a big fan of the Wagenfeld WA24 with its classic Bauhaus design (think it was 1924?), but even those aren’t budget-oriented. Indeed, we’re still talking about £ 320,— (€ 390, $ 515) for one, so I am quite reluctant at modding it.

With the slip adapter on the light drive I’d image it would be relatively easy to adapt the spherical diffuser from the WA24 to fit.

I likee

For that much money mine better be gold plated and diamond studded.

nice find, can’t wait for the 200 dollar & 50 dollar knock offs.

It’s a table lamp. It’s ugly. It’s overpriced. The end.

Anybody wanna buy an $800 SK68 clone with half of a toothbrush travel holder as diffuser if I put it on a candlestick and add a shade?

but it’s great to see people thinking out of the box for LED lighting. This addresses a couple of the big problems with retrofit bulbs - thermal management within the incan bulb format and diffusing point source LED lighting. Putting the heatsink in the base is very clever, both as increases the size it can be and also puts all the weight down low (you don’t want to knock over a $800 lamp  and using that acrylic tube to carry and diffuse the light is genius. Makes me think about how I can repurpose some of that box of old CPU heatsinks and left over light sabre parts

But still, $800!
