Is this a diving light?

Hi folks…

Have you seen this flashlight before guys?

http://dx.com/p/new-kx03-3w-led-160lm-1-mode-white-light-outdoor-flashlight-black-green-4-x-aa-159189?Utm_rid=43033281&Utm_source=affiliate

Can anyone “see” if the led is an XR-E?

Also, look at the pill… a bit strange… is that a transistor? Is that a temperature sensor? For what

It seems a dive light…. but for that low price……………

It uses 4xAA, is it single mode, side sliding switch…

It is very cheap, if it really is a diving light……… What do you think?

it says it’s IPX6 waterproof, so no, it’s not a dive light. At best splash-proof.

Only one way to find out for sure…

Just a rubberized flashlight, nothing to see here, move along.

Thanks for the heads up! Ordered.

The strange looking thing is probably part of magnetic switch. Let's see..

Keep us informed please… Please inform if the 4xaa are in series or 2s2p or something…
Tell us something about the runtime, regulation, estimated lumens, etc…

It is very cheap if it performs good, I want to buy but I need to know that specifications

EDIT: yes, that should be a magnetic switch

Looks like a redesign of the “shallow light” diving light (clone frogman d14). The cells are 4s, and in the shallowlight are direct drive w/ resistor. The emitter looks like a luxeon copy but hard to tell: http://www.zonaindustrial.cl/productos/img/LUXEON.jpg.

The frogmans are one of my favorite designs. Very ergonomic side switch and fits perfectly in the hand. Only downside is I think the hall switch implies a parasitic draw so can’t leave batteries in forever. Hard to measure how much though since it’s difficult to turn on outside the housing without the magnet switch.

Got it, finally.

First one was shipped on 2012/10/17, but it never arrived. No tracking => lost permanently. :(

However, DX customer support handled it properly and sent me a new one on 2013/01/11 -> received it on 2/11 (in about 4 weeks).

First impressions:
- Might be water proof (didn't find any obvious flaws)
- Has magnetic switch (parasitic drain to be measured!)
- Has "cheap" non-Cree emitter (round generic one)
- Very blueish tint
- Not very bright

No measurements yet. I'll see if / when I have time.. Don't hold your breath. ;)
