Maglite small spring

Hi guys where can i get a small spring for a 2d maglite that will allow me to use 3c cells...

Just cut a coil or two off the battery facing end of the existing one. IMO Mag springs are far too long anyway. If I had any spares, I'd send you a chopped one but i don't.

Remember to fold the sharp end away from the batteries.

KD used to sell them but I've just checked and they say sold out.

Plastic plumbing pipe is about the right size to stop the Cs from flopping around in the body - you want just over an inch internal diameter - take a Mag body and a C cell to the nearest B&Q and try them out.

Cheers Don i ended up cutting of quite a few coils in the end :-) think i have about 3 left now lol.

Also hope u don't mind me picking your brain i've read on CPF about a resistance mod performed to the spring/tail cap do you know what they mean by this ?

cheers once again

Charles

There's a few ways to do the resistance mod. The most common is to remove the anodizing from the inside of the cap, and then solder a piece of heavy gague wire or copper braid between the inside of the cap and the spring. The other resistance mods are treating all contact points on the body and inside the switch with DeOxit and DeOxit Gold.

there is no need to cut a perfectly good spring

i have 4 2D size mags that i use 3 x C or 3 x 1/2 D + 1 sub C of same capacity

all i did was remove the anodising from inside the tail cap and use a small piece of copper wire to make the contact in the tail cap there is only 1 or 2 mm gap

i have never had any problems using this method these are the lights i use when walking my dogs after dark they have been dropped and knocked around with no issues and i still have the spring in one piece for later use if needed
