Should I Get Olight SR90?

Hi, I like this forum so much as I get a lot information regarding flashlights.
Through 1.5 year, I have acquired flashlights in sequence below:
1.Ultrafire 501B
2.Fenix TK70
3.Olight i2 (I carry this light everyday)
4.Fenix TK35
5.Trustfire X100
6.Tiablo ACE-G

But I still feel not enough. I always wanted Olight SR90. I am wondering should I save the money to get more budget lights, or spend it on one big SR90. I am not sure about the battery though as it is using proprietary battery pack from Olight. To me, loading and unloading batteries are part of the fun with flashlights.

Any suggestion to make myself feel that I don’t want Olight SR90 as there are many good budget lights out there?

id say get the thrunite tn31 or the k3 illuminations k40 instead, both cheaper and still really impressive

I have a sr90 and love it. It’s very impressive. I’ve verified mine can throw 700m and does 2000otf. Even the size is impressive - thought your TK70 has some of those same features. I’m not sure if I can justify the $325 I paid for it though. I do not regret buying it however. But I can have almost as fun with my D25C clicky or my SR King.
So if you have the spare money - get the SR90, if you are on a budget, you can get a dozen cool lights for about the same price. And those can be done one at a time if need be.

If you feel like you will use and don’t mind the price tag. I have a bigger light and I hardly ever use it because it is just too big to carry around. It is rare I need to see anything all that far away and some of these lights put out so much light they just blind you anyway. But if you live on a farm and are trying to see stuff at greater distance, it could be a good choice.

The sr90 has always been tempting, until the new one came out with the SBt90 in it, less lumens but looks like its the new king of throw.

What I got to distract me from the sr90 was a Lamdalights Varapower2000, I haven’t found the turbo head for mine, but dang it’s a fun light.
It ain’t no Olight but it’ll tide me over till I get off parental leave and get back to work.

The SR90 is a great thrower but overpriced. And it doesn’t put out 2000 OTF lumens.

Not trying to got off track on this thread, but yes SR90’s do put out 2000otf. And thats at 30sec. If you do not own this light it’s pretty hard for you to make this claim that it doesn’t. Early models possibly could have been weaker, but I assure you late model ones, like mine will do it. I’ve verified personal it many times.

I would agree with this totally. The Tn31 is a lot smaller and can keep up with the Sr90 in throw. Plus you save some cash, or go the K40 route and save even more money.

I agree on the TN31 being an excellent alternative choice. Not nearly as powerful as a SR90, but throws very close to it and can be had for about 1/2 the price.

throw is pretty much identical

and lumen output at least on self builts test are 350 lm difference

id get that tn31 from that throwers website. its a custom modded tn 31. somewhere here will link you up…i cant find it at the moment.

Thanks for all the input and reading my post.

After survey about Thrunite and flashlights mentioned, and reading reviews by selfbuilts, I found that I am more inclined to get Olight SR95 now as it has 3 levels compare to SR90 with 2 levels. I like heavy light will excellent machining and body design. For example, I thought I don’t love my Fenix TK70 anymore. Until I got Trustfire X100, compare the finishing and quality, I almost buy myself another TK70, until I heard there will be TK75 in future. Not that X100 is not good though, it is very good for its price and I won’t hesitate to buy it again if I haven’t bought one. And X100 put out a lot of light compare to TK70.

TN31 is definitely very attractive as I haven’t get a fatter light though thought about getting SR King or DRY. But the price is more than or about the same as TK70 makes me kind of hesitated. I know they are totally different lights especially in terms of size and battery configuration. Maybe buying SR King will make me want TN31 less.

SR95UT is attractive for its throw. My lights are used to light up my house and rooms for 90% of time. The remaining 10% is to use them outside my house. When I am outside my house, I do hope that my lights can throw as far as possible. So maybe I should get SR95UT instead as my X100 and TK70 is floody enough.

I do have the TK70, SR90 (first generation) and TN31.

The TN31 is not in the TK70/SR90 league, it might have a long throw, but only with a tiny beam.

The TK70 and SR90 are roughly the same, but the SR90 is much better quality with LiIon battery, battery gauge, included charger and a very nice body.

Hi HKJ, may I know what is the difference between first generation and current one? I thought it was advertised 2000 lumen, but now I see it is put 1750 lumen in Olight website. Is it Olight change the measurement method?

Is Olight still selling SR90 after launching SR95? I mean is it those in the market are the last stocks?

Thank you.

A newer generation led, my SR90 cannot out throw the TK70, but newer generation can.

It looks like they are still maintaining the SR90, but that might be because they have stock left.

The main mechanical difference is the sealed vs. open head. The SR95 has a better battery, it has the lockout function and it has 3 brightness settings.

I think you should also consider these two options:

BTU. Shocker Or at least wait for a “hands on”

Elektro Lumens ST90

I don’t have any of those two but as far as i read fit your criteria

Is the TK70 brighter than the headlamps of a car ?

Depends what bulb you’re using.
But probably yes, and car headlights are pointed towards the ground and are spread out more. They have different purposes.
tldr; Probably.
