Angled flashlight on the very cheap and its issues (thread name changed)

bought this flashlight from the infamous chiwawabuying since it was the only one carrying one and i really had to click to purchas one. I like mini flashlights i can't help. This one appealed to me because it was really tiny and cheap.

Since i did not have any 16340 i ordered 2 along for cheap. Trustfire grey protected. The flashlight does not accept anything else than truly up to a hair thickness taller CR123A battery. That being said the trustfire does not fit by 3+mm.

I disassembled the light in hopes to find a workaround and there is none. Unwrapping one battery to make it unprotected might do the trick but my caliper says im still 1mm short...

Otherwise the light is quite cute for the price. Ff it was truly cree not osram golden dragon woudl be even better. Miles away from UF-H3D build quality but still.

It has 2 modes. Wrong advertising. The 2nd mode is 2Hz blinky.

Any1 came across to any protected 16340 of the exact standard size of an CR123A?

I havent seen any protected 16340 cells where the base cell is a shortened cell. i.e. all protected cells use 16340s as base cells. From a Mfg point of view, its significantly cheaper to just use 16340s. If anyone finds ones that arnt too long, I'm interested too.

How much longer are AW cells?

Oh, never tought of it that way. It seems i will have to go with unprotected.

An AW IMR cell is 34mm if that's any help

Sidenote.. but shouldn't "IMR" be called LMR? Lithium Manganese Rechargeable. Somewhere along the line I think someone transposed "I" for "L" (probably due to typing lower case), and the typo somehow stuck.

You can cut protection circuits off as you stated. Let us know if it works?

Didn't know there was a 'copy of a copy of' the Zebralight H30, with varying qualities between. Sounds like Ultrafire is the way to go for Budget, though for seven bucks it's almost worth it just to get the cool accessories (strap with holder)... looks like that might work on my Trustfire TR-Z1 (yet another H30 copy). How good is the strap for flashaholics? And what is the decency of brightness?

Maybe a suitable gift for a non-flashaholic?, if one provides a few primaries along with the gift? Or keep the strap and gift the light >)

Just realised that i had a cheesy solution at hand. I stripped one of those trustfire to the bone and removed the pcb. In the process, not once but three times i managed to do a short for a sec. Burned my finger only once fortunately while removing the positive terminal connection strip to the pcb at the side. Having more luck than brain fortunately the thing did not backfire at me. I rebuilt the battery insulating coat with parts from the original wrapping and some insulating tape. Grinded the tab marks at the bottom to smoothen it. Now the flashlight screws to the end but it is still a very tight fit. Reason being it depends on it for proper tailcap conductivity.

The headstrap is almost on par with the ultrafire. Not bad at all. Lumen wise it is umm... hmm... 70-90 can't say precisely since my lightox isn't done yet.

It's a cute little lamp now, for the price that is. If anyone wishes i can do a review of it tomorrow.

If they managed to make it single AA they would have scored big. Instead it does eat CR123A and dietary 16340 (no pcb).

Yeah you were looking at this sucker in shenzhen wholesale months ago .. so you doggedly persued it and found it elsewhere huh ?? I want your thougts in a month of playing with it ,,

It isn't polite to remember what others wish they hadn't said. :)

And is what I do for a living.

Polite only takes you so far.

Heh, yea if you remember asking me after 1 month i can surely tell you but i'm afraid it would not differ since it will probably be the same and i take great care on my flashlights.
