Seems good…Hope its in parallel and not series!
Btw guys what’s a D cell (crappy ones) mah capacities?
Picture shows parallel. I just bought mine from DX (SoShine branded I think). Now 3AA->D would be good to find! (Without any modding - I know the KD 3AA adapters can be modded to parallel.)

Those are expensive. Better search longer and have 4 for that price, including shipping
lol expensive @ $1? It had a link of $1.65 for 2 converters…
Any linkies where I can get it ‘cheaper’? Thanks!

$1.90 for two at DX but shipping is included so that compares to $3.65 shipped at your link for two. They are on a lot of the usual suspects of Chinese budget dealers as well. I have some that are parallel. Haven’t seen any of the cheapies that were serial. I wouldn’t count on using them in high current situations but their cheap enough to try.
The really crappy Nimh are basically packaged AA so about the same as 1xAA. These would crush that. 10-12Ah if I remember right of the better non-LSD ones. Quick google showed 8-9.5Ah for LSD D cells so double or more the capacity of two LSD AA in parallel.
erm…I paid $1.65 for 2 converters from the seller yesterday with FREE shipping …. So its a bit cheaper
I wanted to give it a try on my gas shower which uses 2 D cells to power on the gas.
Yes, expensive! They showed $2 for shipping. Totals out on $3 for 1…. I call that expensive compared to other listings.
erm, I just bought 2 yesterday for $1.65 including free shipping. Guess they jacked up the price seeing it was not that profiteable or other members here bought some…
$0.95 shipped for one.
At least you got in when the shipping price was right. I’ve got mine on winter car light duty with some Energizer Lithium AA in a Mag 2D LED. It’s a lot lighter if it ever gets called into use as a baton though.
Alkaline cells are hard to quantify for our purposes because it varies greatly on load. Up to 15ah+ but only at very low draw; probably around 10 or even less in a reasonably powerful light.
As others have said, alot of the D batteries are out there are single AA or sub C batteries in a D sized adaptor. And they typically aren’t LSD. So the capacity is about the same as a non-LSD AA (about 2500mAH). A true NiMH D battery has a capacity of around 10000mAH if it is non-LSD. And LSD D batteries are around 8000mAH.
This brings up a point which should be considered before resorting to adaptors. Specifically, Tenergy sells some really good full capacity NiMH D batteries for around $15 (plus shipping) for two of them. This is probably fairly comparable to what you would pay for a pack of four NiMH AA batteries plus two adaptors. And with that setup, you would have only about half the capacity and quite a bit more resistance. So unless you have LOTS of AA batteries hanging around, true D batteries would be a MUCH better deal. The only other caveat is that you would need to purchase a charger that can charge D batteries (if you don’t already have one). But the truth is that, especially given the high capacity, true D batteries are quite a bit more cost effective than you might think.
I just received my adapter today….It would be great as a backup solution for my gas water heater…$1.65 for 2 including shipping was too good a deal to pass by…Maybe I will consider the D NIMH + Charger…
