Trustfire x6 vs sky ray king

The TF X6 is still saying: “Buy me. Buy me.” But not as loudly as it was 2 months ago.

I’m trying to get a handle on just how bright it is. I know it’s apples and oranges, but is it about the same brightness as a SRK except with lots more throw? (Obviously, you’d have to have both lights to answer this, which makes you luckier than me.)

As for the throw on the x6, it’s like what? C8? HD2010? ke-5? TF x8?

Thnaks for any help you can give.

I’ll give you a beamshot comparison of the HD2010 and the Trustfire X6 once it gets dark.

THANK YOU!!! That’s more than I could ever ask for!

Do you think the x6 just kills the hd2010? Is it twice as bright? 2.5 times? (It certainly seems to be 2.5 times as big!)

I know comparative brightness is hard to estimate. Just a rough estimate is fine. I just can’t get a handle on the x6’s real brightness.

The X6 certainly blows the HD2010 away.

In terms of pure OTF output, the X6’s medium is as bright as the HD2010 on high.

I know words don’t mean much here, but I’ll take a few comparison shots.

I took my UltraFire HD2010, hit a tree approximately .18 miles away and did a decent job of lighting it up. I took out my X6 and proceeded to hit the same tree. It lit it up so much brighter, it made me giggle like a school girl.

Then I took out my UF-V6 (equal throw to a V3), hit that same tree and lit it slightly brighter than the HD2010… but I didnt stop there. I took the HD2010 and combined it with the UF-V6. The X6 was STILL noticeably brighter than the HD2010 and UF-V6 combined!!!

Now of course I didnt stop there either. With my brother’s help, we also pulled out a SmallSun C10, combined all four lights and almost set that tree on fire as we both giggled like school girls.

I have a TF J18 and a TF 3T6. If any of those perform like the King, I can help you out. I dont know if any of those two would be comparable to the King.

i dont know how many more times ill have to say this but: quantitative over qualitative.
King: 2300 lumens 23kcd
X6: 1350 lumens 45kcd

Hey Ubehebe, here are some beamshots:

Left is HD2010, right is X6. I thought it would have been brighter but the difference wasn’t as apparent as I had hope to. I did take out the SST-90 and fiddle around with it, which may have reduced its life/brightness.

All lights are on high.

1/60 sec f/4.8 ISO 200

1/400 sec f/4.8 ISO 200

1/1000 sec f/4.8 ISO 200

1/4000 sec f/4.8 ISO 200

HD2010:

1/4 sec f/4.8 ISO 400

Trustfire X6:

1/4 sec f/4.8 ISO 400
The small die size of the XM-L certainly made the hotspot tighter.

HD2010:

1/4 sec f/4.8 ISO 400

Trustfire X6:

1/4 sec f/4.8 ISO 400

Hope this helped. Cheers!

I have the TR-J12, TR-3T6, X6 and if the SRK is better than the J12 it should be ok. Only problem I have it at 40 yards the hotspot on my J12 is not as bright as my X6, I’m talking about nature areas not buildings like the picture shows. Also anytihng pass 200 yards my XMLs don’t really light up anything much, as compared to the hotspot on the X6. I took my reflector off and suprizingly it’s as bright as most of my xml lights with reflector off, it’s that huge 80cm single head reflector.

>>>>>>we both giggled like school girls

You and your brother spend a lot of time giggling like schoolgirls.

I gotta thank you ryansoh3 for going out and doing beam shots and then uploading them to BLF. That was really sooper nice of you. I really appreciate it.

>>>>>I thought it would have been brighter but the difference wasn’t as apparent as I had hope to.

Yeah. wow. I would have thought it would have blown the hd2010 away. Rather than it being an indictment against the x6, I think it shows what an extraordinary light the 2010 is. I have a lot of lights and the 2010 on MEDIUM beats most of the others on high.

>>>>>King: 2300 lumens 23kcd
>>>>X6: 1350 lumens 45kcd

I thought the x6 would have been more. So 300-400 lumens above a good t6. 30% brighter.

>>>>>if the SRK is better than the J12 it should be ok.

No, the srk isn’t brighter. I have the J12 also, obtained because of pricing mistake for $29 or something like that, and it arrived lietrally on the same day as the SRK. Talk about anti-climactic. The J12 pretty much trounces the srk. Then again, the srk is a more manageable size. Even with just 2 26650s (without the extension), the j12 is a formidable beast. You can fit the srk in a big pocket. Not the j12.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Nice input Ubehebe. Cuz on some threads, Turbo on SRK is 3000 OTF? I would assume that 2300 lumens was rated by some BLF members, give or take 200 lumens on high. The TR-J12 labelled as 3800 lumens, while actually around 2200 lumens +/-200 etc… I don’t feel so bad getting the J12 now.

Well, I won’t judge. When I get “lightcited”, I let out this real loud and high-pitched “whammmmmmm!” exclamation that everyone just laughs at. hehe

ryansoh3, your beam shots make them look almost the same. Is that what yours look like in person? My X6 looks MUCH brighter than my HD2010. Your comparison picture look like my HD2010 vs my T08.

I just took out my 26650 UltraFire batteries from my HD2010, and tossed in my new TrustFire flames… Didnt realize batteries would make that much of a difference! My HD2010 is still noticeably dimmer than my X6, but its alot closer to my X6 than it was before!

Silverbolt says: “My X6 looks MUCH brighter than my HD2010. ”

Yeah, there really seems to be a big variation here. The x6/2010 beam shots don’t show much difference but then feilox says:

“Only problem I have it at 40 yards the hotspot on my J12 is not as bright as my X6”

So he’s saying his j12 is less bright than his x6? I have a j12 and it is seriously bright. MUCH brighter than the SRK.

One says the x6 is barely brighter than a 2010 — and has beam shots to prove it — and then we have this! An x6 (unless I’m reading it wrong) is brighter than a J12 at 40 yards. That’s SERIOUS bright.

Is it the batteries that make such a big difference? Are there mimic/clone x6s that are much dimmer than others?

>>>>>Didnt realize batteries would make that much of a difference!

Yes, batteries will make a HUGE difference. I have lights that will trounce other lights depending on the batteries.

Hmmmmm. Looks like the jury is still out.

I retract my first statement…. “My X6 looks MUCH brighter than my HD2010.” After upgrading the battery in my HD2010 to TF Flames, its now almost as bright as my X6 (w/ TF flames). Another advantage is that the X6’s light is much more neutral than the HD2010.

The HD2010 is more of a badass than what I had originally gave it credit for!

The J12 has much more overall light output (flood), but the X6’s hotspot is brighter (thrower). I think this is what he meant.
