Almost finished SST-90 direct drive 15amps

This is a shameless copy of another light being made on the net. I thought that doesn’t look hard i can make one of those well it turns out without a lathe its a lot harder than i first thought.

Here are a few pics of where i am so far…

The L.E.D SST-90 5700k tint (vary nicely packaged by Mouser) Kaidomain take note

And what it will go into

More to follow shortly, not sure if i’ll be running it via driver or direct drive, led will be soldered to a large chunk of copper…

The reflector 78mm

Small update

sst-90 reflowed on a massive copper heat sink.

looks good! where did you get the reflector?

reflector is from DX

Watching this for sure. I’m currently waiting on the reflector for my sst90 build.

Do you have the exact OD of that reflector. Thats the one I’m waiting on just wondering if it’s gonna fit of not?

72.87mm

That's one big reflector charlestt. I'm looking forward to the beamshots. Good work.

updated

Mouser spends more bucks protecting that led than anyone else I know. It's always nice to see a package arrive from them.

Waiting to see the final outcome. You should end up with a heck of a bright light!

My reflector came out of the lathe while working on it. Now is all bent to rat shit. :frowning: I also know what light you are recreating, I first saw it just tonight.

if your using the same head as me i did it with out using a lathe only a file

slight update, led de domed

initial turn on the led pulls around 14 amps

beam shots to follow

Nice, can't wait for the beamshots! I'm guessing it throws well?

Finally a few beam shots, just need to find somewhere more open now to try it properly.

:open_mouth: !!!

Love it

Hell yes!

That’s a seriously impressive beam.

Those may just be among the most impressive beamshots I’ve seen.

Direct driven with what cell configuration?
