Vortec Cold Air Gun model 106-8 vortex tube

I have an older vortec cold air gun - images when I get home. Works good I have no real use for it. I acquired it years ago from a machinist friend when he retired. Its an older version than what you see on google. I was thinking somewhere around $50 or a trade ?

Its a tool used to cool things down without messy coolant. It gets frosty cold.

any interest ?

PM Sent…anxious to see images. Thanks. Dan.

The white fitting is the cold side. Its just a compression fitting on . I think its 1/2” coming out of the aluminum. The fitting brings it to 3/8 npt. On the left end is an adjuster and hot air comes out of this side. Use it to dial in the cold air flow guess you could heat your coffee cup with the exhaust….

Damn. I had no idea these were worth that much. I honestly just tossed a few old but working (and newer) versions of these. One mans trash…

In this pic you can see the brand name and it looks like it has been soldered at that fitting. Not sure if that is original or not but been like that since ive had it the las 15 years

Very technical explanation on how they work:

From a Scientific American Amateur Scientist article at the link below.
