Guns you regret buying

Been shopping for things that go bang lately. Wondering if you guys have made any firearm purchases in the past that you totally regretted. It could be anything really: handgun, longgun, rifle, shotgun, tactical, hunting, whatever. Tell me your experience.

Even though this is not a gun forum I find the conversation and feedback here is good so I hope a few shooters can chime in. Not sure if this should go in off-topic chatter… I think this forum applies. Hope this is OK here.

regret buying:
star modelo super 9mm parabellum - lost $50 on it. shot good, ejected shells in your face, not good
llama duo finish 1911 .45 - made $50 on it. had nasty rattle in the slide

regret selling:
custom built ar-15 with 16” a2 upper and 20” a4 upper, .22 conversion and all… lost it for what i had into it. long story short… dont pawn stuff to my dad if i want it back. he sold it all for $750, because thats what the guy at his work who bought it said it all was worth.
gablando y cia bufalo hammerless .32 auto - very old llama

Most recent is my H&K P-7 9mm. WAY too expensive and I know I will have to take a loss on it when I sell. I bought it because I always thouht they were neat and different but I just don’t like it much.

Bought a hatsan escort 20ga field Hunter pump and while the gun works awesome and looks and feels great finding aftermarket stocks etc is a huge chore.

I regret buying it for that reason only.

I have never bought a firearm I regretted getting afterwards! anything from my PF9 to my legitimate H&K 91 and everything in between.

Also, I have never sold a firearm… Its just not something I ever plan to do

Haterade - What models have you been looking into?

IMO if you do serious research into what firearm you want to get and do not buy on impulse, you will never be dissapointed in your purchase.

Damn dude. Sucks about the AR. Selling things for the buyers price is never a good tactic. Come on pops! :stuck_out_tongue:

I can relate actually… My old man sold off my old deer rifle, .270 Rem 700 parkerized/synth with a 3x9 scope, because he thought it was not getting enough use and he was sick of it in his safe. Thanks dick.
Sounds like your AR was considerably nicer though.

that is damn good advise. when i had disposable income and a guy at work was selling something for a deal, id usually check gun broker to see what they sold for, and then buy it if i thought i could atleast get back what i spent if i didnt like it… not always fool proof though

Why don’t you like the P7? care to cite some specifics?

the ar wasnt ALL brand name stuff, but the uppers were bushmaster. the lower was a CNC alluminum, cant remember the make of it, but the way i look at it, a lower is a lower as long as its not cast… the .22 conversion was about $175 alone i think with the 2 steel 30rd mags. i was pretty upset, built it all from new parts piece by piece. i had about $100 just in the pistol grip and charging handle too…

I’m fairly calculated in my expensive (to me) purchases. My guns fall into that category and I’m not all to disappointed about any of them.

Pulsar - That sucks that it got sold! Out of my ARs the one I built from parts is by far my favorite! You feel stronger about a gun when you are the one putting it together! You should build another!

i would… but it seems there is no such thing as disposable income with 2 young kids

someday if they dont get outlawed ill build another. been debating buying another lower to stash away just incase though

I would recomend grabbing a lower. My build utilized a PSA Gadsden lower That I got for only $69 when they had it on sale about two years ago (and in stock haha). I am certain that the price has gone up since then….

Concur Oatmeal. I have been known to research to the point of overkill, some say. That’s the phase I’ve been in for a while now. Impulse buys are generally not my nature. (My old lady and I butt heads on that frequently as she is much more impulsive than me.)

To be honest, I’ve kind of been all over the place. That’s part of the problem. My current want list includes: 9mm handgun, 308 rifle, 22 “tactical” plinkers (handgun + rifle). Eventually would love to add a tactical 12 ga pump of some kind, but thats lower on the list right now.

Been looking at mostly handguns lately, but I always seem to wander back to longguns now and then. Guess I have some kind of wannabe sniper complex. I like shooting rifles.

My budget is definitely to the low end right now. (This is *B*LF after all…) Been eyeing the Sig SP2022, CZ P07 duty, possibly Ruger SR9? These seem to be good buys for their price range. I know everyone says Glock Glock Glock. No denying they are good, but I kinda want something a little different.

Can’t lie, the kid in me thinks the GSG MP-522 is pretty awesome. Would be a fun toy, not much more. I think right now I need something a little more ultilitarian, which leads me back to the 9s.

ruger 10/22 and an mk3 can be had fairly cheap. damn good .22 plinkers

cant say glocks are bad… but ive never held one that felt right in my hand. im partial to the 1911 style.

and you can research online til your eyes bleed, but you got to actually hold and feel the gun to know its going to be right for you. atleast thats how i feel

the “fun toy” gun ive wanted for a while is a spectre 9mm

My buddy has the Sig SP2022 in .40. His had a bad extractor spring in the beginning but instead of letting me fix it for him he sent it back to Sig for about 3 weeks to get fixed… Other than that it has been rock solid!

It is a great shooter and although it is one of the lowest cost Sigs… it’s still a Sig! Nice and compact, magazines are a tad pricey at around $30-ish (about double a Glock magazine)

I hear you about the Glocks! Everyone seems to have one, but they are super reliable, modifiable, and cheap to own. If you are not a lefty (I am left handed) you can grab a used 3rd gen fro around $350-$400 if you know where to look.

This is where gunshows, friends with big gun collections and a nearby Cabella’s come in handy haha!

only sigs ive had experience with is the 226 line. had a 9mm navy seal edition in the safe for a while. my uncle had three of them in 9mm, .40 and .357 sig. that .357 sig is one hot round, pretty sure its a .40 necked down to .357

Odd… I just checked my email and I got one from Palmetto with their deals on Sig… That is too ironic!

.40 for $349.99

or

9mm for the same price
