Shadow SL3 with 9A driver?

Interest check for Shadow SL3 with 9A driver
This might need to include an extension tube for 2x 26650 use.

Jake25 from SBFlashlights mentioned in the SL3/JM26 thread that a 9A version of the SL3 might be possible if at least 25 people are interested. I really like my SL3, so would definitely be interested in a 9A version

So, i’ll start the list here

1. MattSPL
2. FMcamaroZ28
3. dthrckt(if single cell)
4. gords1001
5. tjhabak
6. scaru
7. ersecu(if single cell)
8. DarkSide
9. Richie086
10. iron potato
11. Slacker
12. Boro
13. ZRXBILL
14. warmurf
15. applevalleyjoe
16. jmpaul320
17. Glenn7
18. infinitusequitas
19. Obiwan-Kenobi
20. jamaya
21. blueb8llz
22. drillbit
23. Pulsar
24. xed888
25. Dale
26. Don
27. troisanh

I’m in for that…. if the extension tube allows two protected (70mm) batteries.

Yeah, that would be handy

Cheers
Matt

how much does it cost with 9A driver?

No prices were given, only that at least 25 people were needed to put the idea forward.

Matt

if it is 9A on one cell (or as close as a good cell will get to that…) definitely

I’d be interested, a king Kong should give 10a, last about half am hour on high though lol, I thought the nine amp driver needed two cells to give the vf for three emitters though, would make the draw on both cells more acceptable.

Certainly stick my name on the list if its less than $100.

Yeah,i think the driver needs 2 cells to operate at 9A

I’m in for 1!

Thanks

As long as it is below 100 dollars then count me in.

would it be more current than regular model on one cell? I think I read 4.5-4.75 amps at the tail in a review…

Hi Matt, will this upgraded driver allow the SL3 to turn on instantly or will it still require the 1 or more seconds to turn on? Thanks.

Ok cheers

The regular model is 4.5A on a single cell. I measured 4.68A on my SL3.

This 9A version might require 2 cells and an extension tube.

We will have to wait for Jake25 for some info.

Cheers
Matt

EDIT - sorry, you answered in post 7

i’m a little confused

‘require 2 cells and extension’

does that mean it won’t work w/ one cell?

As far as i know, the 9A driver might require the voltage of 2 cells to operate. Hopefully we will find out more over the next few days.
A 9A version on 1 cell would be a pocket rocket  But i’m not sure if its possible, and wouldn’t suit a lot of cells.

possible? sure.

practical…not so much

I would like the option of being able to use 1 or 2 cells if possible
