Black Shadow Terminator just arrived. First Impressions before a full review.

Look at what just arrived!!

I did some quick preliminary IS checks on it as soon as I had cells in it. Now, mind you, the light doesn't fit into the hole of my IS, yet, so some of the light from the Terminator isn't getting inside the IS. It's not a whole bunch that's being blocked but enough to skew the output figures. Anyway, it's still the brightest light I've owned. I will enlarge the opening of my IS to accommodate the Terminator when I do my full review and will post the true numbers but here is what I have so far...

Low - 286.4 OTF
Medium - 1500.7 OTF
High - 2702.7 OTF

Initial impressions of the light so far?

  • Tiny!
  • Incredible switch feel!
  • Lubed threads
  • Best build quality I've ever seen. Flawless machining, fit and finish.
  • Feels like it was machined from a solid block of billet. Zero battery rattle. Unbelievably impressive feel.
  • Nothing negative to speak of so far except that I doubt it will do 3500 lumens. Once I get my IS opened up to fit it I hope to see 3000 OTF. I expect the throw to be pretty good.

Wow Johnny, I'm jealous!

Looks way smaller than I would have ever expected, thanks for the pictures. Now I really want one!

Looking forward to you complete review, but I'm guessing it will get a huge thumbs up from you.

Nice teaser! Film at 11:00 PM

Looking forward to the full review.

Aside from the output a little lower than claimed (at least by my measurements) it’s a pretty safe bet. LOL!

Damn, makes we want it more with you saying the quality is that good!

Is yours a NW or CW? Mine is a CW and I would have no trouble believing 3K+ lumens. I will compare it again (naked eye test only) with my TN30 CW tonight.

that second to last picture makes me want it, bad

although, i’m sure your hand is larger than mine, it is still much smaller than I imagined.

also, it looks like one could operate the switch with index finger if holding light by the body, as in third from last photo

Is the threaded socket on the bottom suitable for mounting on a tripod? (1/4-20)

See it here: http://img04.taobaocdn.com/imgextra/i4/923091962/T22z19Xd8XXXXXXXXX\_!!923091962.jpg

That’s looking a bit tasty, congratulations my friend. 8)

Video here comparing the BS Terminator vs Fenix TK35.

Terminator vs. UF-T90?

VS

Excuse my ignorance, but is this a thrower or flooder? Certainly looks like a flooder…

I really hope they release this torch without the handle.

Here are my thoughts on OTF lumens: If the TK75 is 2600 ANSI lumens and someone from Fenix told me each emitter is driven at 2.9a, then the Terminator must certainly be close to 3500 ANSI lumens since it is 2.8a (I assume each LED) x 4.

Really nice, and tiny too

You sure can!

Nice bright indicator light. Possibly bright enough to use as a night vision preserving moonlight mode. ;)

Johnny, how much if you don’t mind me asking?

I need a multi emitter light, and there’s this, the chat about a nine amp sl3 and and and……

That I can’t help you with. I know in another Terminator thread by bwolcott several folks posted some prices. This one was sent to me by Black Shadow for a full review.

Can you measure the parasitic drain on the batteries when it is turned off? Some of their lights have unacceptably high drains.

No worries, I’ll have a look, you might mention too them that if they need a second opinion……

If the drain is not acceptable, the head can be unscrewed 1/2 turn to disconnect.

Looks like Johhny got about 6 stitches.

Awesome light!
