Thanks for the beamshots but I decided to pass as I have too many lights at almost the same lumens!

Only thing is they need a low lumen..say like 7-10 lumens..then could be utilized as a survival torch also wtshtf.

I’ve got the feeling they’re gonna do it lower in the second run. It’s only thing kept me from it up to now.

Check this out

This is how they sit side by side, S65, Tk35 and EA4.

TK 35 definitely has a bigger head.

The low on TK35 is lower of course.

Tk35 has a greener tint than EA4. EA4 on the right, TK35 on the left. Both should be at Turbo.

EA4 on the left, S65 on the right, on max for both. S65 is green but can’t be seen on these iPhone photos.

S65 has a lower low of course.

Well, I’ve decided to pass. My logic is this; I own a pa-40 neutral in the same led bin/tint. The Ea4 neutral is a XML t5…If it were a t6 neutral, I’d buy it already. I’m waiting for a better XML neutral tint. Hopefully the t6 is it….Besides, I own a thrunite tn30 neutral XML t5 as well. Also, I’m waiting for Eagletac’s new light….That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. (as I try my hardest not to buy the ea4)…I will however look forward to my dads response when he receives his ea4 x-mas gift.

Thanks ILIKEflashligts, for putting the throw in perspective.

The EA4 is a T6 3C

Hrm, Craig from Illum. Supply checked with nitecore and they said it’s a T5. Where did you hear it’s a T6?

I checked with Hank Wang at Intl-Outdoor when it was first introduced. He informed me that it was T6 3C. This seems about right for the newer released flashlights. I noticed that Sunwayman has also released a C20C neutral T6 3C.
The new Nitecore EC25 also comes with T6 3C.

T6 3C really has a good tint. I have them in my Shadow TC6 and my DIY Stainless Steel 26650 light. It is nowhere as dim as regular neutral or warm tints. I stacked some from Fasttechs sales.

after playing with this light for 3 days – this is a keeper for my collection. great neutral tint with a modest amount of throw and useable spill, runs on eneloops and aa’s, small form factor (I love short, stubby lights like the King, TM11 etc. they just feel better and are more fun to me), good electronic switch.

my only gripe is that there is no mode around 10 lumens, but this really isnt that bad. I edc a keychain light with a micro mode.

at $59 shipped I will never sell this one.

Would you mind keeping the wrong flashlight?
Best wish, May

Just ordered one from HKe, curious about comparing it to my Maelstrom X-10.

I had planned to make the Zebralight SC52 my next purchase, but the groupbuy might take a while as there seems to be a shortage of them, and how could I pass up a nice light like this for $59!? Smile

Why not give the little lady another chance too look at my newest find and just shake her head? Smile

I think he meant that if the beam of the EA4 were floody like the PA40.

EA4 is more of a throwy beam

Oh ok.. It still has flood but is more of a thrower. Wink

Is there just one flat side on the body of EA4. Or does other side have flat also?

yeah, as cool as impressive as a small multiAA thrower could be, I’d get more use out of flood – ie, something between headlamp and thrower.

I have a G5 Maelstrom that I run with an 18650. I wonder if this light has a bit more spill than the G5 with the extra throw? I believe the G5 is around 12000 lux. Would 2000 mah Eneloop's work well in it ? Also, won't the cool white throw a little better than the neutral ? I basically am wondering if it would be a big enough improvement over the G5 to be worth the change. Thanks

Hi Rick How does it compare in brightness and spill to your SL3. Thanks Bruce
Bruce, The EA4 is more of a thrower than alot of spill.

As I have both and did compare them too.  Definitely more spill with the extra throw (bigger head and deeper lens) from the xml in the EA4.  The tint makes my Fenix LD41 look cool blue but as I have mentioned in another thread, there is a purple ring present at the hotspot edge. It runs fine on 2000mAh Eneloops that I got back in 2010. BTW my EA4 is NW tint.

I’ve got a thrower, a flooder, and an EDC too. Still looking for a bigger thrower, flooder, and a new EDC, give or take a few. I’m a flashaholic.

I’m not sure, but there appears to be a lot of ambient light in Rikr’s two beam shot photos. The second photo seems to show a lot of flood/spill on the house wall to the right and the car just ahead.

With all the members that have already received this light…Hasn’t anyone taken some beamshots in total darkness that provide a more distinct/truer beam profile?

Were you talking about the Maelstrom G5 in your comments about comparison that I have quoted below ?

Thanks Bruce

Yes I was talking about the Maelstrom G5 for the spill and throw comparison. I use an Eagletac 18650 in my G5 but have some cr123a's in a surefire cr123a caddy for backup.  Sorry to confuse you with the Fenix LD41 comparison comment.

Thanks

The direct comparison really helps. Is the difference big enough to make the G5 irrelevant ? Also, when the EA4 steps down, is it still brighter than the G5 on turbo ? Sorry to pester, but your answers will make the difference in whether I buy or not.
