I received it today. Throw is actually not too bad. Lens is very curvy (more than my other XML zoomies), so, if my imaginations i scorrect, less light escapes the lens when totally focused.
I have one brick church tower 360m from my house, and it can lit it very dimly. Average C8 Q5 throws further, but of course beam is much tighter. Its interesting light, and it seems that it isnt very mildly driven like some zoomies.

PS: I think it would be really interesting to mod it with XPG R5, I cant wait to do it (I bought 2 of these just for that purpose, to mod one with r5) Even with R2, if you want very good thrower and dont mide weak spill. This lens is very interesting, its glass as I can see and very curved). It looks 2 times more curved than lens of SMall Sun C10, maybe more than 2 times!!

Looks nice Smile
I’d be interested to know how much current it pulls if you do a test. Specs say 3A.

Cheers

Got a second Trustfire Z2 yesterday, and a pair of King Kong INR26650’s a few days ago. I’m still waiting for the HD2010 to put them in.

The low mode should be lower.

Got the HD2010 today. I can’t wait until the sun goes down.

The low mode should be lower.

E1320 says after the modding: Manny I got your light done this morning and this thing is fucken ridicules. I have never seen a light throw so far. So thanks a lot, now I have to buy one to mount on my scoped rifle because it smokes the aspherical I have on there now. It actually out throws any light have built or had in my hand for that matter what a beast of a light. You have a 5 mode XRE that pulls 2.8 amps in turbo mode 1.4 in high and has a .002 1 lumen low.

This is one nice light !!!!!! For $21.00 … Man O Man …..

I bought yet another LD01 + E01 combo pack. Got it for $35.95 shipped from FenixGear.

I’ll flip the E01 on CPF for about $12 ($10 or so net to me), and voila! An LD01 R4 for $25.95.

I know, right?

I was searching around for the LD01 R4 on it’s own but the best price was like $33 shipped, so I figured I might as well by the combo pack for an extra $3 and just split the lights up.

Nice trick! (How is tint and LED centricity? From my LD01R4 experience, it is Fenix lottery.)

I got my spare LD01R4 incoming, $10.18 from Dinodirect (with coupons and so on).

Damn, dude! Only $10.18?!? That’s the steal of the century!!!

I’ve had very good luck so far with the R4 LD01’s. There tends to be a hint of green around the corona every once in a while (especially on low—on high there is no distinguishable green), but I’ve yet to see any poorly-centered emitters.

My main LD01 R4 was actually cherry-picked last Christmas when I bought 4-5 of them to give out as gifts. I decided that since I was the only one who cared that I might as well get myself the pick of the litter before gifting the others out. Wink

Thanks for sharing, I can confirm your observation. Here and there some units would have some minimal hint of green (even on hi if it's not so minimal, yikes) but the overall tendency is that on hi there is no distinguishable green by the naked eye. My cherry-picked unit "looks pure white" on Lo, Med, Hi .. similar to my P1A. Amazing tint!! However, this absolute visual perception changes if you do a relative comparison to a "really untinted" light, e.g. the purplish CW of a Klarus MiX6. No doubt, with a cherry-picked LD01R4 tint, the white-looking tint of the light is one of its Premium points (plus the throw and turbo brightness and runtimes and build quality and etc. haha).

It is a light for serious, even semi-professional use. No joke, toy, or cheap stuff. Good luck with the E01 sale!
