Trustfire flames vs others

Looking at this test 2012 Battery test/review summary | Candle Power Flashlight Forum

The Trustfire flames look good in comparison even with the best. Considering the price they look like a Best Buy. Yet, they do not come recommended in the forum.
Why? Are there some serious weaknesses in them?
Thanks,
Jerry

There is a large variation in them, so one could be 2500 mah and another could be 1900 mah. Naturally this is bad enough in single cell lights, but in multicell lights this is extremely dangerous.

Thanks, scaru.
What about Marsfire. Are they rebranded Sanyo or Panasonic? It seems that I have seen such info.
Jerry

Some people say yes, I personally wouldn't bother though. Kumabear (a member here) has some great deals on protected 18650 batteries, and he will tell you exactly what the core cell is.

Thanks, again. I appreciate the help.Since I have no way to test a battery except to run it, I appreciate the efforts of others who have the equipment and knowledge to do it.

Edit.
I looked on ebay and found Panasonic NCR18650 18650 2900 3.7v PCB Protected Battery x2 with Ultrafire Case
However, the description makes this statement.

Quote: Brand New and never been use. All tested before pack
Original Panasonic (Industrial) products, Made in Japan
Modified by professional battery workshop, Safe and Reliable* End Quote*

I wonder who the “workshop” was. I suppose they did the work to make it protected.

There was guy on here from Austrailia that tested the authentic Trusfire flames as being some of the best he has tested for the money.

If your wanting some great batteries, it will be very hard for anyone to top these prices.

If anyone can sell them cheaper, I would like to see the link.

These are good batteries as well.

Those look good to me. I think I will order a pair of one or the other. Not sure how much I would notice the difference in capacity.
Thanks,
Jerry

The best value out of all those I listed and are very good cells is the grey 2900mah protected Panasonic 18650 batteries in my opinion. I bought 4 of them a few days ago.

When I first come to this forum everyone was raving about the 2400mAh Trustfire Flames and how good they were, the 3000mAh ones wernt out yet. They used to be the first battery that everyone would recomend to anyone asking about batteries.

The reviews of the 2400mAh batteries generally show them to be 2000mAh and as long as you aren’t trying to pull 5 amps they will be fine.

There are fake ones though so that’s something to be careful of, you would be pretty safe to buy them from ManaFont.

Some of the ones posted above for close to the same price will probably be a better deal though.

I think the reason the Flames were so popular is because they arent rubbish like most cheaper ones but didn’t cost $10-15 per battery like most Panasonic or Sanyo protected batteries at the time either.

I just ordered 2 of the grey 2900mah protected Panasonic 18650 batteries. I have a couple of the Trustfire Flames.
Thanks for the help.
Jerry

I have just tested a couple from a place I wont mention for a friend. One was 2500mAh out of the box at 1 amp discharge and the other was 2100mAh after 4 charges rightly or wrongly both batteries were slightly above 2500mAh. These were better than mine that came from MF which were 2350mAh. Mine were bought 12 months ago.

Trustfire or Panasoics?
Jerry

He wasn’t talking about the Panasonic.

Thanks,
Jerry
