Yezl Y7 from Wallbuys vs Trustfire X8, quick comparison

Finally received my first order from Wallbuys, a Yezl Y7 and the HD2011 they have had on special for $9.99. I already had a Trustfire X8 I got from DX for $34.99 (with charger, two crappy 18650’s, and spare parts) during their US warehouse clearance which I really liked, so I figured I would give the “clone” a try since it was only $22.98.

Externally it looks just like an X8…

but the machining and finish is not nearly as nice.

The threads are also cut very shallow vs. the X8 and all internal o-rings are smaller and not GITD like the X8. Threads were also extremely dirty (have been cleaned in this pic).

The screw in head is a bit different (not in a good way) and lighter. Y7 on the left, X8 on the right.

The Y7 is also not driven as hard as my X8. In two battery mode is only pulled 800mah on high.

Y7 X8
High 800 1290
Med 420 560
Low 130 130

It also runs in shorty mode with only one 18650, and unlike the X8, actually draw more watts in this configuration than it’s 2x18650 config.

Y7 X8
High 1880 2180
Med 790 1030
Low 260 220

Did have one issue preventing proper functioning out of the box. The retainer ring on the tail has a lip of metal preventing it from screwing down fully on the battery. Easily fixed, but another example of why this is cheaper than the Trustfire version.

Overall, not a bad buy for $23 bucks. I ordered two more during the 50% off sale, will be interesting to see if they are better or worse. Will likely do a driver swap to try to bring the output up a bit more.

Thanks for the review! The X8 looks like a pretty nice light.

I have shopped on Ebay since 1998. I have pretty good lucky buying flashlights. Most Keygos resellers are good, most Citipower resellers are good. Now I just ordered an X8 and haven’t got it yet, but expect to be like other Trustfire resellers and be fine. This is the same link that I ordered from:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110736099272?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&\_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

And it was only $25.26, an absolute steal…
