Zebralight SC52 1aa/14500 awesomeness

Had this a little over a week and I’m loving this lil guy.
The clip is screwed on

So I can carry it on the side of my cellphone case

A whopping 500 lumens on a 14500 with a nice floody beam, the wall is green not the beam though

There’s now a third low low mode much lower than the .1 lumen in the L1/L2 modes
Hidden back it takes 6 double clicks to get too like the strobe in high is hidden

Smaller than the sc51 by a lil bit

I apologize for posting the pics the way I do, because my home pc is junk

There’s a code in cpfMP dealers corner too

I just won in TheShadow's giveaway and I love it! It's been living in my pocket since I received it.

I tend to get better zebralights when I don’t buy from zebralights main site, that’s just my experience though

and i thought my e03 was a pocket rocket, think again, haha, nice light

I just got mine also. Love it. Have not tried a 14500 in it yet. I really like the way it feels in my hand.

I can’t get over the 280 lumens on 1 AA Nimh battery, that’s the most efficient I’ve ever seen

I have the D25A NW Ti and this is smaller and a lot brighter. Totally blew him out of my pocket. Very impressed. Also have the SC51F which I will now be looking to sell.

Oh, the humanity!

Specs say the 500 lumens lasts only a minute. Is that true?

Brightest light, efficient, great UI, small, great build quality.

Sorely short of its listed specs - no where near twice as bright, nor twice as efficient as a comparison of listed specs suggests. Worst warranty, weak stats on reliability polls, and horror customer service stories.

IMHO, ZL should adopt a little conservatism in its listed specs, as does its closest competitors in the small single-cell/sub-lumen category (47s, ET, TN), or I just happen to be running 2 for 2 with defective ZL product (3 for 25+ for all my purchases).

Just my $0.02, YMMV of course.

Reppans, is there ANY forum you don’t belong to.

Yeah it steps down to 280 lumens after a min for heat management. The sc600 and h600 have similar stepdowns, zebralight prefers this method

Reppan, that’s why I buy them from American retailers. So that I can get warranty honoured. I’ve only had one that I would call defective, and it was a terrible anodizing job but because I ordered from the main site it took forever to get a response

I have purchased three ZL’s from three different reputable US venders. All three were scratched right down to the bare aluminum. These lights should never have been packaged at the factory. God awful QC.

I’ll still take zebralight qc over Thrunite

Cayenne… ?? This is the only other dedicated FL forum I’ve joined (I don’t count EDCF as dedicated). My apologies if you were looking for a place to get away from me.

CarpentryHero, yeah me too, but I wouldn’t think that they would help you after the manufacturer’s warranty expires - 1yr for ZL… or do they?

True, once the years up your probably SOL. If it wasn’t for the unique UI and small form factor being so appealing… Keeps me checking in on them.

I’ve come to terms with my love/hate relationship with ZL. I’ll occasionally buy them for my own use, but I will not gift or recommend them to my friends or family, which happens to generate a lot more volume than purchases for myself.

For some reason, the exaggerated spec sheets disproportionately bothers me (and I objectively measure lumens). Despite being about the best AA/sub-lumen lights I own, they’re the only ones that leave me with a feeling of being cheated, or ripped-off.

Not to take anything away from the light… my issues are all just corporate policy gripes.

If you are talking about their output then you must have some bad units. I have three ZL’s and I would say they are all what they are listed at in comparison with other lights of similar rating that I have. I love the UI once you get used to it also.

Just ordered one from Illumination Supply with the 15% discount code SC52Intro including free shipping, came out to $54.40. Right now they're on backorder, but I still ordered it anyway. I think it's worth the wait....

Nice! That is where I got mine also. Ordered on the 31th and got mine on the 3rd. You will enjoy it Glenn, it has a nice grit to it when you hold it. I just love the feel of it.
