I have a nitpicky question about the Trustfire R5-A3

Absolutely love the light with a 14500 in it. When I ordered it, the colored ring on it looked red. When I got, it is pink. If I take it off, it obviously looks like a piece is missing. Spray painting it is an option but does anyone know if something will just take the color off?

It’s nitpicky, I know, but it bugs me.

Soak it in Greased Lightning .

Oven cleaner works too.

I tried Greased Lightning overnight. Didn’t do a thing.

oven cleaner stripped the chrome plating right off my pots and pans pretty good, i imagine it would take the anno right off. the stuff in my dishwasher tablets is working wonders on my skillet… that thing was expensive too lol…

If the Greased Lightning didn't work , you're going to have to get hardcore about it . Try the oven cleaner or just buy some lye ( sodium hydroxide ) and mix with water .

I Google Image searched and saw a pic of a deanodised ring , so it is possible ...

good luck

You could always go with elbow grease and sand it with some high grit automotive sandpaper. Works well to remove color from anodized titanium, but it may be tough to get it 100% off this way. My understanding is that chemical removal of anodizing takes some seroiusly deadly compounds…ymmv.

Edit
Found the thread i was thinking of on another forum. Poster was referring to a mix of nitric and hydrofluoric acids to strip titanium… Not DIY, super toxic & potentially lethal. Stripping aluminum appears easier.

Bake it.

Hehe, and make it orangier :stuck_out_tongue:

Oven cleaner worked in about three minutes. On the same light, is it possible to make the rear switch protrude more? I don’t care if it tail stands and the switch is pretty hard to depress.

I’ve also tried it. It really works.

Great! I also love lighting so much.

The easiest way to do that would be to grind down the metal part of the tailcap. :P
