Has anyone tried the new AA 3 volt Batteries yet?

What is the runtime like ?

I'm thinking of buying some for my UniqueFire AA S1 .

I saw them at Battery Junction in the Lithium photo battery section .

They were done for the CPF'ers that wanted them for various applications-including not waay overdriving their Mini AA's.

Soooo , with Lithium primaries going for about $2 these at $1.50 apiece sound really good . But only if the runtime is O.K.

I went ahead and ordered 4 of 'em .

You realize these are 3 volts, right?

I'm guessing he caught that .

A little pricey but for lights that can't handle the 4.2 volts it's definately a boost and they probably last pretty long as long as you're not whaling on them .I have always wondered why someone would buy primaries .but after running 10 cr123's in multiple lights i'm impressed as can be with panasonic cr123A batteries .can't beat a good primary.

Yeah . the AA-S1 is supposed to run just fine on a L-ion so instead of buying another charger and 14500s ...

Nice find Jack, thanks for sharing this. Considering how much energizer lithiums cost, these seem pretty good. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on em.

Just got my 3 volt primaries and slid one into my UniqueFire AA S-1

YESSS ! Double the brightness and the tint is whiter too !

3 volt with aa one?seems never tried it .

Very cool....I wonder if they'll maintain constant voltage through the discharge cycle.

I still need to order a few...

Got link?

Here you go!

Thanks Match.

Non-rechargeable = not for me.

I go back on forth on these but at the end of day, a non rechargeable 3v AA battery isn’t something I need as I have plenty of nihm battery for backup purposes and have my 14500s in my lights.
Now if this were a primary 18650 battery for a reasonable price, I would all over this one. To me, that’s the non rechargeable battery that’s needed.
Now I wouldn’t mind having some 3v primaries for my Akoray 106 as it just sits waiting for used in a vehicle and currently just has a rechargeable nihm inside. Did I mention that I go back and forth?

Well , it's been 3 weeks or so since I began using my 3 volt primary in my UniqueFire AA-S1 ( my EDC ) and even though this light is driven hard the battery voltage has only dropped down to 2 volts .The light isn't as bright , but for my purposes , still adequate . I would say it took about an hour of intermittent use so far . So it looks like in this particular light , you get an hour of dazzling brightness , and an hour or 2 of O.K. brightness . And for $1.50 apiece , I'm happy with these batteries .

I bought 12 of these last week so not much opportunity for runtime testing yet. The diameter and length is perfect and if anything these are slightly shorter than the alkalines i have at hand to compare with. These being 3v is a major plus point for me as i can now get CR123 like performance in an AA package and most if not all of my current AA lights will happily run on 3v.

Service from BatteryJunction was good it took just 4 days from ordering to receipt which almost took the sting out of the $17 postage cost :) i like lithium primaries although i wouldn't necessarily use them for my EDC and frequently used lights i have quite a few lights that are rarely used and are currently fed on 1.5v lithium primaries and some others with CR123's that are for put away and forget until needed emergency use.

Lithium longevity is probably the biggest selling point for me the fact i can load them up and forget about them and should i come to use one a few years down the line i am confident they will still hold their charge and will not have spewed their guts all over the internals of my lights! (i have a photon micro that is around 11 years old now and although it has been replaced on my keyring by one of DX's fauxton offerings its lithium button cell still has enough juice to give a sick firefly like glow although it takes a grip like hercules to fire it up )

I am surprised that people haven’t been using the 3V lifep04 rechargeables in the AA/14500 format. You can even pick them up cheap at walmart etc. They are used in some solar lights.

Those walmart cells have been getting a lot of bad reviews on the "other" site. I wouldnt waste my money on them. What keeps me away is having to invest in another charger.

As I recall, Durarcell CR-V3 batteries have two 3V primaries in parallel. But the Energizer CR-V3 have two 1.5V primaries in series. Of course things may have changed over the years. Do a search for 'splitting CR-V3' and you may find out more. We used these in the Dorcy 1-AA 3-LED lights back in 2003!

CR-V3's are rather expensive, so I look around for bargains on eBay or close-out, etc.

The ones that work are nice, unfortunately there always seems to be at least one dead cell in a pack. This years version seem to be not as good as last years. They have less capacity and seem to be reports of more dead cells.
