No flashy ads or other garbage. I use it exclusively. Nothing more in life I hate than going to read a thread somewhere and finding most or all the images gone.yell

Thanks. Looks pretty quick and lightweight. Too bad you can’t nest folders… would go a long way to help organize things (like this: LED-flashlights—>Astrolux, LED-flashlights—>Jetbeam, LED-flashlights—>Nitecore, etc.)

Please try to remember to set the Relative Width to 100% or less. Thanks.

Yes the rollover or mouseover feature here at BLF is a great feature! I frequently link from my posts over at MTBR for those users to see them (can’t post mouseovers nor fill a screen over there).

Could someone please instruct me on how to make a mouseover? The instructions in the OP (roughly 3 1/2 year old) apparently no longer apply? Advanced Post Editor toolbar is completely different looking now, I tried Insert/Edit Image – Advanced tab, but nothing there like in the OP’s tutorial

You can no longer do a mouse over here, after the modifications on the newer version of the forum.

Mouseovers are still technically possible, but are extremely user-unfriendly.

I have a couple in my signature, but they were not fun to create.  :ghost:

EDIT:  Here are the instructions to create a mouseover from Mr. Admin himself:

Thanks rc, I tried* but can’t get it to work because I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing Smile

*to try I copied and paste the line of code from SB’s post, then I subbed in the image locations in where it says “URL IMG-1” and “URL IMG-2” but in the preview I only get image 1 and no mouseover.

I even tried to replicate SB’s example from in his post, (I used quote to get the code) but same thing, only the first photo and no mouseover.

Try this:
If You Need Alt-Text This Won't Interest You
If that worked on your browser, just quote this message, select everything between and including the angle brackets, paste it somewhere like Notepad and replace the URLs with your own (be sure to get the whole URL but just the URL, leave the punctuation alone) and Preview the post as many times as you need to test it. You can always quote this message again to start over.

This gives you mouseover and onclick actions so you can add depth. Everything but the onclick should be some compatible image. You won’t win any friends putting an HTML link in a mouseover. But the onclick is what that’s for anyway. Remember to specify your Width, no more than 100%, please.

Thanks Dimbo!! That worked great, and so easy! Here’s mine:

I also found this code for inserting a GIF:

(click quote to view or copy code, just swap in your own image address)

please add the following css rule for images as they break zooming on mobiles and also looks bad on desktop if the width is below a certain value. thanks

.forum-post-content img {

Having been in this situation just last weekend, I’m hoping I can help you TKCUSN. What picture hosting website are you using?

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.

In the tool bar above the comment input box is a sunset icon. Click that and copy the direct link from photobucket. Please set relative width to 100% or less to keep the image within the thread boundary. Otherwise, every other post is shrunk to accommodate any that are outsized, really annoying.

The tree is a CPF thing. Here, SB uses the sunset icon button. Click on that to open the image drop down box, then go to photobucket and click on “i “ for the image you want to link and copy the direct link into the image drop down box. Don’t forget to set image width to 100% or less, it constrains images to normal post width. Larger images don’t make screens any wider, they just shrink all normal width posts.

For those folks using Photobucket…

Beware that Photobucket throttles the bandwidth for 3rd party hosting (which is what you are doing if you link your Photobucket image). If you happen to have a popular post (a review for example), then you may find that folks cannot see the images due to your account exceeding it’s free 3rd party hosting bandwidth allocation for free accounts.
See for FAQ from Photobucket here

I’ve seen several posts recently where the pictures cannot be seen due to Photobucket bandwidth restrictions.

I started using Imgur due to this limitation. But it looks like Imgur doesn’t allow direct linking to images using the BLF method. You have to use their Embed link (copy and paste) which inserts the image with a little Imgur frame around it. Not as clean as Photobucket, but you don’t have the bandwidth restrictions for a free account.

It seems like you don’t know how to use imgur…
Here is what you do:
1) right click image
2) click “open in new tab”
3) copy the URL
4) click the “insert image” icon on BLF
5) paste the URL

BTW photobucket is a disgusting adware and malware cluttered site, nobody should use it anymore.
.
.
EDIT-
You can also right click -> copy image address instead of opening in new tab and copying the URL, OR you can just copy the “Direct Link”

Thanks Enderman.

I was using the unregistered mode on Imgur and it doesn’t have the same interface you show. There is no convenient button to copy the direct link to the image jpg. However, the right click method does work to get the direct URL to the .jpg

Thanks

You’re welcome.
Can you even upload images to it in unregistered mode??
I don’t think you can…

Yes – you can upload images on Imgur without setting up an account.
