The new US Postal Rules and changes, may very well stop me from doing any more lights! Total Exaggeration there.

As of today, I cannot purchase and print labels for Parcel Post (parcel post is gone forever by the way), First Class or Media Mail! Now I HAVE to go the the Post Office to send those packages. That means EVERYONE has to. Got any idea of what the lines will be like in the Post Offices across the US now?? Fewer Employees and now the Damn has Busted and the flood will cause many to stop shipping totally.

I will not drive to the Post Office and spend the gas and deal with the pita traffic, just to ship a damned light. I would have to raise prices, buy printable labels, etc, etc. This is Bullshit! The Post Office just took a step 50 years backwards, by not letting people buy their labels online any more. What are they thinking of??

My wife, who loves paperback swap, will have to give it up, because ALL Media mail cannot be printed out. It has to be taken to the Post Office. She cannot get out! How many people cannot get out and rely on the online printing of labels?

All I can buy now is Priority and Express! Let's see... First class $2.58 or Priority $5.15 hmmmmm Oh yes, I'll take Priority and pay double! NOT!!!

Unbelievable!

Stupid move on their greedy part

maybe consider selling your lights on ebay? just need to figure in ebays cut and PP cut into the price. you can still print shipping labels on ebay.

heres a list of all the changes today

Didn’t they just raise their rates, too?

In other news you can now buy Wedding Cake and Tufted Puffin stamps. I’m glad our postal bureaucracy has made time to preserve this vital program as they restructure operations and reduce costs.

I guess I will just have to use the PayPal multi-order shipping method for now. At least that still works. I think it's all a matter of cutting out more services.

Yeah this looks like a big headache for you. What really sucks is that my post office acts like it is such a big deal to print a label out for you. I had a few things that I had to return and needed to have it printed out there because my printer was out of ink and they said that we cant do that here. I was like what? I just figured they were being lazy.

Having worked at the USPS as a contractor (want to feel subhuman? Work at the USPS as a contractor!) I can say that there’s a lot of internal waste there. In the district that I worked in the unions have the USPS wound up so tight that they could not fire people who absolutely didn’t deserve their paychecks. I had heard one manager complain that she tried to fire someone who clocked in every day and sat in the cafeteria for her entire shift, not doing any work at all every day, and went through a year’s worth of hell to do so. Had she known it would be so much hassle she would have saved her energy. There are plenty of people there who fall under this category.

I’d say let them raise the prices. It should help the local businesses because it will make buying online more expensive so buying locally shouldn’t be that much more expensive. I have a friend who’s about to close his store because of Internet prices being at or below his cost. You can’t survive when you’re selling $400 items and only making $20 profit in a specialized store that caters to a hobby. He can’t raise his prices because people just won’t buy from him. It’s just might be the break he need sto stay in business.

That is BULL$#¡+!!!

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, it seems to still let you print labels online...

and i think from how i read it, they are just renaming some services and upping the rates about 4-7% (not sure about all, i just read it really quick…)

Someone educate me please.. When I want to ship something larger than a letter I have to give it to the post office. So I have to go there anyways, how does it work in the US?

There is a way to print out a label that you paid for with a credit card. Then you can simply put that label on the package and send it out like you would a normal letter. (I think)

Yes, I can pay my labels online and print them with my printer too, but I still have to get to the post office to have them sent. Big letters (which cost more) with a thickness of about 5cm is the maximum you can throw in the letterbox. For anything else, you have to go to the post office or to one of these things: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packstation

With the latter, you dont need to interact with anyone, but you still have to leave your house..

you can print labels online, yes, but only Priority and Express through USPS website now. Other sites you can print other services at a cost to you. PayPal does work, I checked, so I will just have to use it. I just do not like the non-uers friendly paypal method.

For mandating 75 years of retirement be pre-funded in 10 years which accounts for all loses they have had since 2007…

We have postal delivery. They deliver all mail to your home mail box. You can also leave packages at your mailbox and they take them, if the pre paid label is on them.

I really did not mean the rant to be political. I never thought of it that way. If it ends up being a mess, I will just ask sb to delete the thread.

As you most likely already know, I go off on tangents without thinking. Embarassed That is because my mind is lounging on the shores of the Gulf Coast, while the rest of me in here. In other words, I've lost my mind and can't think of where to look for it.Tongue Out

You just have to refocus your disenchantment on something else…like kittens.

You are right, of course.
