Fenix E11 Lens came crooked any ideas how to fix?

Hey guys just got a Fenix E11 and I'm a bit disappointed to say that the lens is noticeably crooked inside the head and its bugging me. I was hoping someone could tell me if this is relatively easy to fix or not because I really don't have experience pulling apart flashlights and I don't want to risk breaking it cause then I won't be able to return it. But if it is fixable I would definitely rather keep the light.

Here are a few pics, hopefully you guys can see what I'm talking about. The lens is slanted the area in the left half of the picture is almost flush with the rim of the head while the section to the right sits a good 1-1.5mm below the rim of the head (the way it should be). I think this a manufacturing defect because I didn't see any signs of shipping damage. This honestly doesn't seem to impact the beam much or anything but I usually sit the light head-down on a table or wherever and I'm afraid this lens will eventually take a beating from not being properly placed.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

This one might actually show it better.

It could be fixed easily, if you got the head apart. That is the hard part though as it is glued on.

If you really want to fix it wrap the two parts of the head in electrical tape and grab them with vice grips. Unscrew them, use a wire brush to remove the old glue, reseat the TIR lens, and then screw it back on.

Should I use glue when I put it back together and if so what kind?

btw thanks scaru you're the man and honestly on these forums A LOT :P

You wouldn't need to but if you wanted to be sure it stayed on then you would use blue Loc Tite.

Awesome thanks again scaru, I'm gunna give this a try tommarrow hopefully all will go well.

You may want to heat the head up a bit with a hair dryer to soften the glue. Be careful not to use too much heat..

i nice piece of rubber about 1/4” thick with channel locks or vise grips would also work good. be careful not to dent or squish the head, aluminium is pretty easy to bend (for our fellow brit/aussy forum friends :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thanks for the advice guys I was planning to give it a little heat but I'll make sure not to go too high

A lot of Fenix E-series lights seem to have this problem or at least some form of this problem. I've had two E05's where the TIR was seated off center, and I've seen several videos/photos of E05's and E11's where the TIR wasn't installed correctly.

It's a manufacturing defect and I'd try sending it back to the seller if viable before attempting to fix on your own.

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed with this situation, this is my first Fenix light and I know it is a relatively budget priced light but its not so cheap that I would expect such an obvious flaw. I don't plan to give up on them just yet but as a first time buyer it did not make me want to run out and buy another one that's for sure.

Also yes I have contacted the company I bought it from and asked if an exchange can be done but I don't want to go through the trouble of shipping it back and waiting for a new one only to have the same problem so, I will either try to fix it myself or possibly try to upgrade to a different model, we'll see.

I just received a Nitecore SENS CR with the same problem. The beam was so ugly I had to do something about it.

I was happy to find the head came apart without to much effort. I straightened out the TIR and now all is well in the universe.
While I had the head apart I checked under the star, good thing I did, there was just a little dab of thermal past on one side. I cleaned it up an applied a nice, even layer of artic silver.
