Were to buy HD 2010?

Hi guys, I decided to get the so popular HD2010
Just not sure were to get it from, could someone advise please, is the one you get ok, good quality? What is the better quality ones, Fandyfire or Ultrafire? I now that the Fasttech ones are bad (underdriven).
DX
LightsCastle
T-Mart
etc

Thanks

I’ve had 2 good Ultrafire black ones from Tmart. But that was months ago.

Tmart currently have some discount coupons here somewhere.

I’ve just ordered the perfect one from Lightmalls.

Also worth noting the comment about the Fandyfire at fasttech :

“Output Warning: this light has an exceptionally low current draw (about 800mA on high). While this extends battery life (runtime per charge), the LED in the light is not driven to its full potential. In other words, you may find the flashlight somewhat dim compared to similar Cree XM-L lights.”

I just received mine from light castle… I am not happy at all with it. Not very bright & beam not well defined.

TMART certainly was ok as SunCoaster said, but can't vouch for them at the current time. I've bought 2 myself, and at least 2-4 others recommended to friends - all were good, shipped from US warehouse. These low power versions out there is a bit scary, but it's a great light to modify, not the easiest, but well worth the results.

Get the Fanfyfire from Lightscastle, better than the Tangsfire from T-mart. Larger hotspot and nicer beam. Build quality is great on both. Both were bought around December.

I ordered the TangsFire one from Tmart this morning. I already have the other one they list; it’s good but direct drive is a problem with 26650 cell, and the emitter wasn’t perfectly centered (spacer problem). I took a chance on the TangsFire one, and as long as the emitter is centered and producing a good beam, the driver issue I can fix.

Dale, what type of tail current does the light have? Also, these lights have a floating reflector. Typically, the bezel has to be carefully screwed on to keep the reflector base perfectly centered to the LED. If not, the light will loose it’s otherwise perfect hotspot and make it look like a mess. Unfortunately every time the bezel is removed and replaced, you’d have to go through this ordeal. I’m sure from the factory, the assembler didn’t care about this.

Looking to buy another HD 2010.
Anyone know current best price? ( and output—but my TMart version has been great)

The TMart $6 off $30 coupon is expired

Yeah, a certain someone’s copper pills has me shopping around for one too

Tangsfire HD2010 from tmart (black) has the good East-92 driver. I got 5.3A with a 26650. I ordered two more in grey.

1200 or 3600 lumen version ?

I took a chance on the Grey Ultrafire HD2010 with XML2 from willbuying.com

Hopefully it’s a good one.

Oh boy - these are the guys who are still claiming/selling XM-L2 U3's, but they test at T6 level output -- I did the tests...

So you’re saying the light will probably be made of cardboard…hehe :stuck_out_tongue:
Will report what I get here anyway.

Well, probably would have been better off getting the FF one from FastTech for under $30, or TMART's. Unless you got a discount, $36 listed at WillBuying is one of the higher prices around.

WillBuying has just been lying continuously about it and after I published the test results, no reaction - still listing them as U3's.... ugh.

I don’t even pay attention to Chinese lumen claims. 3600lm? That must be the triple emitter model. Triple emitter+one cell= meh.

So skip the triple emitter version ?
Wouldn’t it be higher driven/have better heat sinking etc ?

Neither, if I remember correctly the pill and reflector on the triple is a drop-in style. Very poor thermal path and not worth it.

Yeah you’re probably right, I was happy paying a bit more for the Ultrafire branding and an XML2 emitter but if the seller is dishonest about other items then that’s not very encouraging.
I hate my Fandyfire HD2010 that I bought a year ago from Lightscastle but it seems past experience counts for very little when buying these lights. The FastTech one is probably completely different again.
It’s a shame really, I find it a hard light to recommend because of all this uncertainty and $30 sounds like less of a good deal when you have to buy 2 or 3 to get one good one :stuck_out_tongue:
