Different tint, Same bin?

Hi all,

I have two xm-l2 and one xm-l emitters, all are t6 3c neutral and all of them have different tints? The two xm-l2 came from the same batch and same supplier at the same time but have different tints, one is a nice creamy white and the other is pure white, the xm-l is on the warmer side. how is that possible? :Stumped:

Two possibilities:

  1. They are the same tint - each tint code does have a margin of error. Not huge, but there is some variance.
  2. The sellers lied to you.

I know which one I’d think - but I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

I would also like to add that the two xm-l2’s came off the same reel from mouser, and they seem to have the biggest difference.

That’s why. Mouser Likely sold you a tint-bin collection (E3, 51, etc.) - not a single tint bin. Single tint binning costs a little more.

I’m betting you bought the E3 Tint-Bin Collection which means the emitters could be from Tint Bin: 3A, 3B, 3C or 3D

In that case, Mouser didn’t lie. They provide the exact group code in the part-number.

Unless they are Cree… Cree’s tint binning fairly well sucks.

Thanks for the reply PPTK, very much appreciated!. I guess I will have to learn to love the slightly different tints, as I like them all, no ugly blue or green hue’s, just a little different.

My pleasure.

Happened to me from Cutter. Ordered T6 3D and got T6 E3.

Well, There was about a 25% chance that your T6 E3 was a T6 3D
