Thank you RaceR86.  Couldn't resist the T4 6A3 and ordered 5.  Looks real good on that ANSI chart.

XML U2-3C NW

This caught my eye looking at simon’s selection. Seems to be a genuine XML U2 -3C NW. Never seen one of these tint/bin combinations before and might be the best option for getting max NW lumens out of a single cell light. Potentially easier to drive harder than an xml2 T6-3C and get more total output? Might be interesting to test.

I have purchased some of those from Simon this last summer.  I don't have test equipment, but they seem like the real deal.  I reported on them in Post 206.  I have one in a light and I like the tint.  Seems to be the same tint as the xml2 t6 3c's I have.

I have two xml2t5-3c from illumination supply used in a work/floodlight and this is my definition of neutral white…

——
I just used a Cree XM-L2S6, 7D3 Tint with 90+cri from IS.
https://illuminationsupply.com/bare-leds-c-52_36_88/cree-xml2-bare-s6-7d...

The colours are superb but for me it is a bit too “warm”
….
I guess there is not much differents between the xml2t2 from Simon and the 7d3S6 in tint…so I probably order one of the 80cri XMLs from iOS to come closer to my wishes.

Sounds good, I will probably order some for NW thrower projects. I hope they’re not too green. I would have expected extraordinarily high output bins in the 3C bin to be at the extreme end of that tint quadrangle. Kinda like those early cool U2/U3 bins that were only available in the 2S/2T range.

I'll try to remember to double check tonight, but I don't recall any green tint.  Seemed more like beige if I remember correctly.  I intend to use them in single cell lights that I want to push hard, but not dedome.  I don't know if the output is any higher (probably not), but I'm able to get higher currents with xml's (vs xml2's) in single cell lights.

That’s exactly the same use I had in mind. Gotta snap them up while they’re still around Smile
Tints are so subjective and relative it’s hard to really describe them to someone else I find.
I have one particular T6-3C from a reputable source that has just a touch too much green tint to it for my liking. I classed that one as probably being situated somewhere in the upper/greener part of the 3C tint quadrangle. Other 3Cs I have are nicer/more neutral and probably closer to the BB emission line.

Speculation mode = On

My NW 5000k tint reference is my Apex 5t6 which is a very nicely balanced NW tint, neither too green nor too pink/purple.
While listed as containing only T6-3C emitters I’m sure it’s really a scatter shot combination of all the 3× (3A,3B,3C, 3D never seen one but maybe it exists) tints which gives the nice blend. This is how cree generally ships emitters in bulk so it makes sense, especially in a budget light.
If I isolate the individual emitters and take comparison photos, I get ones that are close to the greenest 3C tint I mention above, a rather cooler more purple tint that matches a 3A I have and everything in between. Including one really nice, slightly warmer emitter with no hint of green that I would guess is very close to the BB line and almost a 4B. If all 3C emitters were like that one I’d be delighted Smile

I imagine this is what the general tint distribution looks like when Cree cook up a batch of NWs Smile

This is pure speculation on my part, just based on the rather limited samples of 5000k NW emitters I’ve seen and compared and what’s been available on the market over the last couple years. Would make sense to me to see a trend similar to this though and it might explain why 3Ds are so rare/nonexistant
I would also expect the higher output emitters such as these U2s to be right at the top right of that blue line.

Speculation mode = Off Smile

That's interesting.  Never noticed, but I believe you are correct.  Lots of people say the 3C's look too yellow.  Which is consistent with the area above the BB line in 3C above.

Now I'm curious.  I'll check my one installed emitter tonight and report back.  I have only used it outside and haven't tied to determine if it was 3C after installing it.  I only remember noticing that I found the tint acceptable and was relieved that it seemed similar to my xml2 3c's (which I like).

EDIT: Examined the tint.  It's so green out here (vegetation) I had to go inside and use white walls.  You are right, there is some green in the tint.  I still find the tint acceptable, but I definitely wouldn't want to dedome this emitter.

If you have already ordered some of these, Simon will likely work with you to cancel the order.  After Aliexpress verifies your payment, a "Cancel" button will appear next to the order.  You may want to send a message to Simon ahead of time letting him know your intentions.

Thanks for doing the check and verifying my thoughts, I haven’t ordered the emitters yet but will probably still give them a go.
They’re going to be used in thrower projects anyway and there a bit of green is ok by me. In fact I like some extra green for scanning vegetation outside, gives much better contrast than more neutral tints.
I was just interested to see if my tint speculation was holding water with these emitters, trying to get as much of the “blind luck” out of picking emitter tints Smile

I really wish Cree would start doing 4 or 2 step macadam binning for XML 5000k NW emitters like they do with the MT-G2. Then you know you’re getting a very tight tint classification very close to the ideal BB line.
Cheers

Edit: More speculation mode… Wink

If my theory on NW tint yield/distribution follows that blue line then the best chance of getting a tight tint classification closest to the BB line is with the 3B tint. Since they seem rather rarer than 3C and have less of a chance of being overly green than the 3C while not extending below the BB line as with the 3As. I have a 3B that I really like, slightly cooler than the 3Cs but almost no green, maybe I should pick up a few more and compare to see if this theory holds true. Silly

I have never considered Kaidomain a trustworthy source for emitters. Especially not since they have a tendency to always claim top bin. And maybe mess up tints about too?

But look what they have added!!!! In B11 bin.. (so they say)

Nichia NVSL219A-H1 B11 LED 14.5 x 1mm Star (92 CRI, 4500K) 3,49$

And there is more Nicha 219

Nichia CRI92 NVSW219B-E R85 B200 LED 14.5 x 1mm Star 3,79$

Nichia NVSW219B-T B280 C1 L2 LED 14.5 x 1mm Star 3,71$

Nichia NCSW219B-E B15 C1 LED 14.5 x 1mm Star 3,49$

Anyone familiar with the other Nichia 219 emitters??

Oh, and the old and classic XR-E, in NW tint 3,29$

From IOS:

XM-L2 U2 1D bare emitter, 4,98$

XM-L2 T6 3C on 14mm alu, 4,98$

XM-L2 T6 3C on 12mm alu, 4,98$

Nichia CRI92 NVSW219B-E R85 B200 $3.79 KD: “SW45, neutral white (4500K), High CRI 92”
That Nichia 219B R85 is a lumen upgrade to our beloved 219A. Thread: New 2013 Nichia NVSL219B… typ. 92CRI Bit hard to believe KD has it. R85 hasn’t even been added to nichia’s 219B public datasheet yet.

I believe the B11 bin for 219A is new, iirc B10 use to be the highest listed in nichia’s datasheet.

~ edit ~
Actually the nichia catalog only lists NVSL219B as available in R85 (high CRI) not the NVSW219B that KD is claiming is R85. Perhaps NVSW is a typo. :~

Couple typos in KDs listings:
Nichia CRI92 NVSW219B-E R85 B200 -> flux bin would be D200 (200-220lm@700mA)
Nichia NVSW219B-T B280 C1 L2 -> flux bin would be D280 (280-300lm@700mA).

You know Kaidomain is annoying, they get in these great leds… but then there is their poor trustworthiness, tendency to claim top bin & typos. Flat Stare

Also the picture for Nichia CRI92 NVSW219B-E R85 B200 seems wrong.

Nichia’s NV leds have a larger die. Looks like KD got the picture switched with Nichia NCSW219B-E B15 C1. NC leds have the smaller die.

Yeah. KD specs =  :Sp

And they have zero issues lying about it either based on my experience with them and their customer support.

But still, they could have some interesting emitters. I have yet to finish a muli-emitter Nichia light Ive got, so im not planning on buying any of these emitters now.. And I have several plans for XP-G2s in TIR optics too. Already have the parts.. But I have other projects first.. So Im in no rush buying anything right now..

Hopefully someone will buy some and report back..  0:)

Eagletac do have B11 Nicha 219 on one of their lights though.

If there is some mistakes in the spreadsheet regarding info on these, please fix or add the missing info, I just quickly added them. Not too familiar with these (I have not even checked the datasheets), and not quite sure what to say about them due to KDs claims, which could be right one some, but usually are wrong..

Despite KD’s issues I couldn’t help myself & tried to order a CRI 92 NVSW219B-E R85. Didn’t go through, my card doesn’t like KD. Big Smile
NVSL219A-H1 B11 is showing sold out.

Checked the spreadsheet & adjusted them a bit.

KD is trying to lure us with these things they claim are nichia R85 219Bs…
Smells like some kind of KD trick, trap or magic mushroom. :ghost:

These puppies arrived in the weekend:

XM-L2 T5 5A3 (80+ CRI) on 16mm Noctigon 6,89$

XM-L2 T5 5A3 (80+ CRI) on 20mm Noctigon 6,89$

Like Hank say, nice option for those who loved the 5D2.

And like I say about such emitters, nice option for tint mixing since these are below BBL (most other emitters and de-domed emitters are/end up above)

Ill e-mail Hank and make him double check the specs though. T5 bin and 80+ CRI??

I placed an order anyway. Smile

Which should make the emitter AWESOME!

Well, that was quick.
Illumination supply had a small batch of NVSL219B R85 D220 (92 CRI, 4500k) but I guess it sold out since the listing is gone. Marked it as out of stock in the led database.
Thanks for making it available in bare emitters. Beer

Emitters from Mountain Electronics have been added to the spreadsheet. Thanks for adding them RMM! (there are no links though) Feel free to contribute more, and update/post in this thread too. Smile

For all the people in the US it must be great having another good source for lots of nice emitters. Its also nice for international buyers since shipping is generally fast. I have god experience with this seller, and I am sure many US buyers have too. Smile

IOS have gotten some sweet XP-G2s.

XP-G2 R4 5A2 with 70+ CRI (not 70 CRI typical which is normal).

5,96$ on 16mm Noctigon

5,98$ on 20mm Noctigon

Just saw on the ebay lck led store that they sell xpe2 in 1D tint, but also in 7C tint (Q3), on a 16mm board, $2.21 , have not seen that one before. By the way, the edit: 20mm xp Sinkpad goes there for $20.25 for a sheet of 15.

Would be nice if lck led would list the tint on their actual website. Flat Stare XP-E2 on ebay
Sort of hesitant to put ebay links into the LED database since the links expire if the listing isn’t endlessly renewed. Thoughts?
“Q4” in title, Q3 in discription. Tired

~ edit ~
Is LCK-LED reliable with bin & tints?

$20.25 for the sinkpads? I’m seeing 15pcs Sinkpad XP 20mm for $22.50. Still the best quantity discount on copper stars without a dielectric layer.

LCK-LED ebay listing

15pcs Sinkpad XP 20mm – $22.50 ($1.50 each)

XP-E2 Q3 7C (3000k) 16mm – $2.50
XP-E2 R3 1C (6500k) 16mm – $2.45

These XP-E2 tints might also be available on 14mm and 20mm stars at LCK-LED.com only the tint isn’t listed on the page.

LCK-LED carries 16mm, 20mm sinkpads in XP, XM on their site. You could inquire about their quantity discounts if you need something other then the XP 20mm that is currently in their ebay store.
