Hello all, I am in desperate need of two flashlights that are extremely bright and have a really good flood capability. I am going to use them to flounder out of a boat(gigging flounder with a spear while standing on the bow of a boat). I am going to be holding the light about 6-7 foot over the water, because I am tall, and from that distance I would like to have an extremely bright flood that covers around 3-5 foot area at a time. Any help is appreciated, thanks. Oh and it doesn’t matter what kinda batteries power light just preferably not a strictly rechargeable light, thanks.
For flood I personally prefer the nice even illumination an aspheric or TIR optic offer. So I’d probably looking for a good one of these.
How about a headlamp? Here's one I have that's floody when zoomed out. Runs on AA's (can do alkalines). Sold at numerous locations now (wasn't at time of review).

The TN30 has lots of flood
Can you recommend a specific model or maybe just a good website I can find them at? I having trouble locating these brands.
I would have to agree with the TN30, but if you’re going to be holding it over the water alot, it will be pretty expensive if you drop it in. For about a fifth of the money you could get a Skyray King, which is still very floody but in comparison to the price of the TN30 you could get 2 Kings (in case you drop one in) a couple of sets of Batteries and a Charger and still have Change from just the price of the TN30 (the superceded one) without Batteries or anything else. Why would you recommend such expensive lights? A cheap simple solution should suffice. And it sounds like the O.P. needs to stay away from Li-Ion.

$150 shipped, but I think you should start small before you jump over the $100 mark.
TR-J18 would be a good option. Nothing brighter or more floody than a pile of XM-L emitters in shallow reflectors. As a bonus you can club the fish over the head with it as it breaks water.
It's a solid light and crazy bright, too.
I would take a TR-3T6 over the TR-1200 any day.
I was going to suggest the J18.
If you are going to buy 2 lights I would suggest 2 different lights. You may get on the water and decide you want a little more throw than you previously thought. Or you may find that a certain tint highlights flounder (or any underwater object) better than others.

Same here. No contest unless I was aiming for throw instead of flood and my only two choices were those two lights. In that case I’d go TR-1200. For what 1Rednek1 wants though the TR-3T6 would be the better choice as it is not just brighter, but more floody.
Is 1Rednek1 willing to use 18650 / 26650 Li-Ion cells? I think we need an answer to this first. If he is willing, does he understand the risks associated with using them?

That's a Sipik SK68 clone (more than likely) and are great lights to pickup cheap from Ebay. They are ok bright on AA's and screaming bright on a 14500 Li-Ion.
