...where Frugal meets with Flashlight!

Good job with the setup!!! Now we can discuss budget lights without loosing the thread.

Thanks! I'm still open to suggestions, and I still need to put a few more finishing touches on the site. It will probably take a little while before the users find us, so help spread the word please.

The more sites the merrier. CPF has become a pain - all the stuff I'm interested in gets thrown into one thread. Which gets moved around at random. And the mods don't see this as a problem. But enough bitching about CPF.

Also take a look at http://www.jayki.com

Registration was easy! Thanks for setting up the site. Given that this is a subset of overall flashlight use (budget lights), you probably don't need all the subforums for the different types of flashlights. If you get thousands of threads (a nice problem to have!) you should start dividing them up. Just my two cents.

Also, as I write a long line in this box I'm writing in, I go off the right side of the page. Maybe this field width is set too wide. It seems like I should be wrapping text when I get to the edge of the box, not about an inch after I get to it. I don't have a lot of screen resolution (1024x768), so that may be part of the problem. Using Windows XP and SeaMonkey (which is basically Firefox now it seems like).

The more the merrier!

Thanks for the tips and the encouragement!

brted, thanks for confirming the issue with the editor width, it's a known bug that I'm trying to work out.

Yes, hopefully we will reach thousands of posts before long, meanwhile spread the word please. I'd like to mention this site a bit more on CPF, but the moderators are strict and might not like it. Any other way we could promote this site legitimately?

Thanks to all for the help.

Ok, the editor width bug has been fixed! It appears to be resizing automatically to adjust to the width of your browser.

So, we're ready to shine.

To help spread the word, I followed your lead and set up my signature in CPF with this forums address.

This would be a good suggestion for those that can still log in.

Okay. Another suggestion, MORE SMILEYS!

Lol thats how i became a member here....i too was tired of all the budget lights all in one thread...it made searching and reading about a light a burden.

Welcome!

Another thing about this forum, go ahead and post links to specific products if you want, as long as you don't post spammy off-topic junk I won't go through systematically deleting links, unlike another forum we all know...

Enjoy the smileys...

...Maintaining this forum is almost more fun than playing with flashlights!

Tip: You have to drag 'n' drop the smileys.

Congratulations on the site it's excellent and will save hundreds on over priced flashlights when their are other products out there just as good.

A very warm welcome to:

I hope you all find the site enjoyable and useful. Feel free to post suggestions.

Im digging the site so far........glad the site was started.

Hi everyone, I changed the amount of posts that it takes to get the ★★★★★ if you're wondering why your label changed! No offense, I just had it set really low and pretty soon almost all the users would end up with a 5-star label.

Nothing wrong with that......was wondering why i was getting more stars.

Would it be okay if we posted the link to this site on FaceBook and Myspace......just trying to spread the word around.

And what about forum rules....if there posted then i didnt see it.

Absolutely, I’d appreciate it! I also think we’ll be getting more users when Google and the other search engines finally start to include us here. As of yet we haven’t been indexed by the Google search bot. We’ve already got a lot of nice and useful content and pictures thanks to all you guys. I’m going to post some reviews too, although my digital camera is a piece of junk and the pictures will look pretty shabby compared to, say, Don’s.
