WTB: Wire for

This is a big shot in the dark but does anyone have a good deal on 10-3 outdoor wire with ground for sale ? I need about 80-100ft

If so please pm me or post a link if u no a good website ?

To an electrician in your area. Look in the yellow pages and make some calls. You don’t want to buy 100ft. of 10-3 online, the shipping will kill ya! You’re talking about 30-40lbs of wiring! (We have a 100’ extension cord made of 12-3 and it’s a beast!)

A search through Home Depot online turned this up http://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwire-10-3-X-125-ft-MC-Light-Cable-68584205/100142069?N=bm7v it’s got an aluminum shield around it to be used as an outdoor supply line like for guard lights? $125 isn’t bad for 125’. So it can be had. If nothing else, there’s a benchmark for the price.

Edit: Just noticed, FREE SHIPPING!

Ill go there and check it out, I looked at there site and only came up with 300+ ft

Hi nitro, Lowes sells wire by the foot I think. Might be cheaper might be more expensive, but they should have what you need in store.
I just remembered something. I have a few electrician friends and they have all ways told me to buy stuff at the electrical Supply Co. They are cheaper than lowes or HD. If you can find a Electric Supply Co. (where electricians buy there stuff from) near you, I about guarantee they will be cheaper.

I did a google search of (Electric Supply Co) near port clinton Ohio and a few stores or electric workers popped up ill give them a try and see what they tell me

Here is one >>http://www.cesco.com/

Do you need to bury it?

Yea the box is on the opposite side of my house in the basement, it is about 6-7ft out away from the house then turns then about 60+ ft to my garage, once done it should look like a backwards J

If needed to know its for my lathe

Your lathe is 15A 220V right? You should not need anything over 12/2 (no neutral) or 12/3 (with neutral) for that. 12ga goes up to 20A.
Having said that, 125ft of 10/3 Armored is an excellent price. You’d never find that here in Canada for that price.
If you burying it, you need burial grade, and that armor coat wire is not burial grade.

Then you don’t want to use mc cable. It’s not sealed and is just for exposeda, above ground locations. The cladding is to protect you from the cable and the cable from you when it’s located out of a wall cavity. Don’t want to put my foot in it (again!) but pretty sure it needs to be in solid conduit that’s glued together like PVC called Carlon(it’s grey). Once the conduit is run, you get to pull the wires through. They should be separate wires instead of a cable(I think this prevents overheating but not sure). There’s a lubricant that is used to make wire pulls easier and you can save the extra for later. I’ve heard of some guys who tie a string to a cotton ball and use a vacuum to pull the cotton ball and string through the conduit and use that to pull a heavier line that won’t break. Something like this

Good luck! Hope this helps.

There are lots of regs about burying cable. Here it needs to be something like 3 feet deep or covered by concrete. You really should have a pro do the installation.

got some and ran the wire to my electrical box through my basement to the garage should be done in few more days
