I finished moding my TN-31 and want a very very easy to remove threadlocker to hold the bezel to the LED module whenever I unscrew the head to change the batteries.
I Need something that has hold but will be easy to remove using only hand force whenever I want to upgrade the current XM-L2 LED to a brighter bin in the future.
I was looking at the Locktite blue 242, Permatex Blue, also seen the permatex 14A Thread sealant with silicon. Which do you recomend and why?
I was also thinking on puting a small amount of Arctic Silver epoxy to help transfer the heat from the LED module to the head, is there a thread locker that transfers heat and is easy to remove?
Another option was to put a small copper tape on the thread and screw the head over it but that might damage the HA III layer.
Normally removable thread locker is just so you CAN remove it if necessary, not planning on removing it regularly. It’s not likely you’ll be able to remove it by hand. I’ve removed some cylinder head bolts that used a silicone sealant on the threads. They were a lot easier to break loose than any thread locker. You might try some regular silicone caulk on the threads of an old light and see if that works out for you.
I just need something that I don’t have to boil and use superman strenght to remove, I only plan to open it to upgrade to a better bin maybe a U4 or better XM-L2 when available (A year maybe)
I see. I thought you needed to unscrew it for changing the batteries. I think I’d try whatever you decide on in an inexpensive light first. I’d hate to see anything happen to that TN31.
Thanks for the replies, I decided to put one very small drop of permatex blue, I’ll see how that works out, I use it to lock the wheel hex nut on my RC truck and I know its removable.
That 222 Looks very promising, might try that one next.
