Hello Everyone!

Hey all!

I've been hanging around this forum for a while enjoying the atmosphere. I had been lurking around CPF for a while when they had their most recent crash and stumbled on this site while hunting for an alternative. I like LED flashlights and I REALLY like budget anything so this site seemed really appropriate... My other interests are firearms (too expensive) and fishing (don't get to often enough) so budget LED lights are my current addiction.

My collection:

  1. 3-D Maglite modded with 3x XR-E R2 LEDs in a DX reflector; this mag is on about the fourth generation of mod with the first being a homemade 36x 5mm LED insert with all flood and no throw. I'm in the process of building a simple 1x XM-L mod using one of the DX 52mm reflectors (not quite a Match-scale project).
  2. 3-D Maglite modded with a custom hardware store "Heat Sink" and a DX 52mm optic to create my super-thrower. I can light up over a third of mile with this light, probably beyond that with the right conditions. That's to the bend in my road which is the only known distance I have to get any idea of range. I get a lot of scattering too due to lots of pollen/humidity in the deep-woods Northeast Texas this time of year.
  3. Tank007 TK-703, my current EDC. It's running DD from a 10440 because I fried the driver accidentally while playing with it.
  4. Ultrafire C3 with AA-extention tube from DX; too big for pocket carry, not bright enough for holster-carry.
  5. Ultrafire WF-501b with Cree R2 from DX. My current bedside light and my favorite for general purpose use. Uses rechargeable cells, good throw for outdoors, not so bright as to blind me indoors.
  6. Sipik SK68 - just because it's a fun little light with the zoom function. Plus I like the pocket clip.
  7. Miscellaneous other lights that are non-moddable leftovers from incan-days and various multi-LED pocket-sized lights.

I also had the Romisen RC-G2 but my wife stole it for her purse... to go with her DX piggy keychain light.

I have the new sku Trustfire TR-1200 from DX on order in hopes that it will be reasonably well driven, and if not, I'll just use it as a 3x18650 host for a new XM-L mod. I'll be sure to post a write-up here when I get my hands on it...

Good to have you here keltex78

Enjoy your time here!

Welcome to BLF! looks like you got a good collection there.

Welcome to BLF Keltex78!

Hi and welcome to BLF !

You're going to fit right in. Sounds like you've done a lot of interesting stuff already. Great to have you here.

Welcome :)

Welcome to BLF keltex78. Glad to have you here. Looks like you hit the ground running with a nice collection of lights.

Welcome to BLF keltex78! I look forward to your TR-1200 review.

Welcome!

Welcome Keltex78!

I'm not sure what a Match-scale project is, but I'll tell you it usually starts out with a couple of drinks, then asking out loud "What if...?"

Hi there Keltex78, we're glad to have you here at BLF! Nice looking flashlight collection you have there.

That Mag 3-D "heat sink" with the 52mm sounds like an animal. I really like Mag-Lites; I've got about a dozen gathering dust. (also like Kel-Lites but can't afford the prices they get on eBay) I hope one day to mod a few of them. I have a pre-C (in the serial number) 3-C, brand new in the box that I want badly to make into some kind of monster light.

Anyway, welcome.

Welcome! Enjoy BLF as much as we do.

Happy to see another flashlight AND firearms lover here! One of my current projects is making a good tactical light for my XD-9. Have you played around with that much?

Cheers,
Johnny

I haven't played around much with tactical lights on guns. I've mounted lights on a couple of handguns but that's about it. I'm playing around with an idea to put a light on my Mossberg 500 but that's about it. I will add that I love my budget guns as well... KelTec and Hi-Point are vastly underrated.

A Match-Scale project: Any flashlight modification capable of either ionizing the atmosphere or increasing the brightness of the lunar surface.Laughing

Aloha and welcome to BLF Keltex78!
