Closed - Nitecore EA8 - I guess I will just mod it

nc1

Up for sale is the Nitecore EA8 that I just got yesterday. I have put batteries in it and taken several beam shots, which I posted in the forums. Everything is as new in the original box.

Price is $80 and that includes Priority Mail Shipping.

Payment is PayPal oldlumens(insert the @ sign here)gmail.com

Post here if you want it and follow that with a payment and a PM to me with your full name and address.

I got to thinking and I guess I will just mod this thing into a floodlight. I have a short 52mm reflector and maybe I will throw in an XM-L2 with a DrJones driver pushed to 4-5 amps and just make it another one of a kind.

Thanks

Sale is closed. I will just mod it.

What are you doing with the stock circuitry?

Hope you get some good use out of it old. Be good if you can keep us posted on the build, I’m sure a lot of us would be quite interested to see how this is put together

Sweet!
Looking forward to see a mod thread!

After seeing some of O-Ls mods, you’ll probably know when it’s complete from the sudden brightening in the night sky over Norway…… …there might also be newspaper reports of smoking cats with the hair scorched off their backsides, and a sudden rash of UFO sightings!

I knew it!

Looking forward to seeing what's inside this light but I can't say I'm thrilled about such a great light with a great UI and throw gutted and frankensteined when there was nothing wrong with it. Maybe if it was broken or buggered to start with I'd feel differently. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way.

At any rate it will be interesting to see what you are able to do with it, Justin. :)

i may be interested in buying that driver
edit: it may not function on 4xAAs though…

i agree too, but im sure it will be turned into something great

+1

This is copied from another post. In the span off eight hours that I have been away this has turned into the most abused light I’ve heard off. Its been reviewed, rejected, sold and now modded. I will with compassion for the light make one last offer to take this poor hard done by light off your hands for the price off postage. :_( .

Ahaa… Northern light…

Ill be looking up in the sky. Waiting for Justin to do beamshots of his new creation…

Get what you are saying. Sorta like ripping apart a perfectly good new car to race it out. As long as the old bits get recycled back into the community and not thrown away needlessly I think it is OK.

ps… Pulsar is on to something.

i called it first! :expressionless:
lol JK. if it will be 100% functional on 4 cells, i would really like it. but, im guessing the driver will need to be salvaged to make another driver work in it and keep the side switch

You are such a funny guy.Laughing

Well, I guess I never look at it that way. I just think if it can be changed or not. Gutted will probably not be a strong enough statement, since the Head is loctited to the body (Red Loctite at that). I may be giving away a lens, reflector, led, bezel and tail cap, by the time I get done with it, but hey, it’s no worse than those “destructive tests” done here a while back. I am sure some think I am just crazy as a loon, being mean to the light, but I feel like it’s just an inanimate object, so it does not even know I’m being mean to it. Of course, Nitecore may send me dirty emails…Tongue Out

from the sounds of things lately Nitecore has it coming to them lol

On the other hand, if Nitecore pays attention to the mods, they might just learn something.

Well, I think they make some excellent lights and as far as the UI, it’s just personal preference and so subjective that it’s almost a waste to discuss it. One thing I have learned around here is that a UI in a light will always be subject to discussion and there will never be one that is “one size fits all”. I can even understand why they use Red Loctite on the threads of the head/body, to keep most people from messing with the light.
