Transparent shrink wrap, and what it's good for.

I recently bought some of the 29mm transparent shrink wrap from fastech to make some custom labels for 18650 batteries which came from laptop battery packs. For a while they only had the shrink wrap in blue, but now have many colors including the transparent. They sell 2 meters for $1.18 It can be found HERE if you’re interested. They sent me 4 meters of the stuff, not sure if that was a mistake. Anyways This stuff works perfectly for printing your own labels for the batteries. I planned on making much nicer ones, but ran out of ink after printing a couple test runs to get the measurements and logo placements right. As someone with a background in graphic arts and animation I can do alot better than this, but it will have to wait til the new ink arrives.

“Techfire” was used for my test logo, since having “fire” in the name is always popular. lol

(Galaxy S3 takes the worst pics)

I only used a lighter to heat it with, because I don’t have a heat gun or blow dryer at the moment. A lighter works fine just keep the flame moving. (don’t use a torch lighter it will burn) I printed these test runs using regular paper, but planned on using sticker paper for the final design. For those that have many batteries from different battery packs, this is a good way to differentiate them. The labels are roughly about 2.5 X 2.5 inches or 65 X 65 mm.

I had got a Duracell logo from the net and added the “18650 3.7v” etc to see how that looked and the second run is where I ran out of ink. Went from looking copper to looking pink. :frowning:

.
Oh well that’s all for now

That copper top wrap came out pretty nice!

As long as you’re doing these just for fun, how about doing the Surefire logo since it’s the original “XXX”Fire. Why copy the imitations when you can copy the original!

Hey, this gives you the perfect opportunity to be just like many of the fun chinese resellers that BLF members have had to deal with in the past! Grab a large bucket full of old worn out 18650 laptop pulls and print your own trustfire labels for them.

Advertise them as: “Brand new authentic trustfire 18650 batteries in perfect condition. Absolutely no returns regardless of the situation or accusations. These are great batteries… really! Yup, they sure are!!  ”

Like it! Do you have the graphics in a word file? Can you share?

Think I’ll pick up some of that and label my cells for date and capacity. I have no idea if they’ll accept a label AND shrinkwrap diameter wise but if worse comes to worse I can always peel off the original shrink wrap, right?

Thanks for sharing!

Sorry for the off topic, but what is the tall silver light behind the “Duracell” battery?

You can market a 8000 mAh 18650 like they do! Good battery.

Do these add much to the width of the battery? I’ve got rattling in my 2*AAA tank007 e06, I might try this instead of manually wrapping paper around them.

Now I can have the Hello Kitty 18650's I've always wanted :)

or a matching eneloop /18650 disney collection .

I wonder if they might be a little too fat for some lights .?

Now I just need some nippled ends to add some length to laptop pulls ..anyone seen these anywhere ?

That’s awesome PyTech.

Boaz, you’re nuts. You must be one tough dude to brave enough to put those cute little kittie pictures on your bats.

KITTY-FIRE

Off topic: Galaxy S3 camera shouldn’t be that bad. It could be low lighting, or, the user’s problem.

Here’s the duracell, click on it to go to the image , then save it to your pc.

Mine works fine with 2 layers of shrink wrap and label, as far as clearance issues go. You could always take off one of the shrink wraps, but I really don’t think it’ll be necessary.

No that’s right on topic, lol. The light directly behind the duracell battery is a Recoil Thrower . Pretty nice light.

Yea that would probably work well for that, but it doesn’t add much so you might need to do it twice. I know fastech sells AA/14500 size too, but cant remember if I saw AAA/10440 sizes.

Ha, lol Shouldn’t? Yea, it “shouldn’t” be that bad, but it is. I not only stand by my opinion but I’ll even double down and say that the galaxy s3 has the worst camera I’ve ever seen on a phone. I still love the phone though. .

Thank you. Since we were talking about batteries and wrappers, I felt that talking about flashlights was off topic. (It’s not like there’s any other forum for discussing flashlights here. )

:D now, if only I had color laser printer :)

I’m digging this. Maybe add another X. Eneloop XXX !!!

I heard about a buy who got naked then wrapped himself in transparent shrink wrap and walked into a psychiatrist's office.

The shrink looked at the guy wrapped in shrink wrap and said just 6 words;

"Well, I can see you're nuts"
