It was bound to happen (4AA). Looks nice. After looking at it again, I don't think it looks that nice.

I need about nine of those cell holders...the rest of the light doesn't do much for me, aesthetically.

I'm sure it will be a quality piece, coming from SWM.

Looks good but wonder how it will stack up against the ea4 price wise. Don’t really like all the disco modes.

It’s a cute flash light to me. Since it’s waterproof, it’ll be useful.

right you are … I’ll take the Nitecore EA4 for $45, and sacrifice a couple of lumens.

And I am sure that it will be expensive, coming from SWM :)…

The EA4 looks to have a few more modes and does pretty much everything this light does, except max lumens. I’ll stick with that.

Looks nicer than my EA4, but will prob cost at least double…

Just noticed that it does have a moonlight mode (long click from off). Missed that - it’s among the details of SOS, strobe, Aviation signal, police strobe, which has a tendency to send me to sleep when I read about them.

wow. four strobes.

exciting.

But more seriously… The EA4 was missing a moonlight, so it’s got that on it.

They seem to have made an error in listing brightness/runtime figures.

They list 550 lumes for 1.7 hours and 220 lumens for 1.8 hours. :quest:

$79.50 at Battery Junction…It will probably be much less a Fasttech

I hope I can get one at the same price I got my ea4

Sunwayman D40A LED Flashlight with CREE XM-L2 LED - 980 Lumens - Uses 4 x AA Batteries Regular Price $89.95 at batteryjunction tad overprice imho

I would rather have a smooth reflector. As far as lumens, my EA4 is the XM L2 version with 950+ lumens so that is pretty much a push. I like the way the EA4 holds it’s batteries without a battery holder. Probably a better button on this light than the somewhat flimsy button on the EA4.
I do like this style and shape lights that use AA batteries. Probably buy one soon.

Wallbuys has the D40A for $77.58. I asked them to lower the price closer to BatteryJunction, and they delivered. I think the May 15% off code will work too.
I have a review sample inbound (not free, just discounted), but I doubt it will get here before the May sale ends…

i dont know why these 4xAA lights have caught my attention

Ever since I got the EA4W, I have a thing for them too. They are pocketable (EA4 is a little shorter), good run time, and look nice too. This D40A really looks nice, better than EA4. The button should be more durable too. It’s flush with the host.
I have a primal fear of shearing that EA4 button off when putting it in a pocket or brushing it against something. Looks impossible to replace.

Looking at the way you purchase lights, your “buy less light” plans doesn’t work well ya… I find 4 AA lights very attractive also.

I think Bill has a good price too.
