I am looking for a P60 host with a really thin bezel for bike riding. My skyray cuts off the edges in a hexagon pattern which is unfortunate because it seems like wasted light. maybe a knockoff L2? I dont mind grinding/sandpapering down a little
I found this post by old4570 interesting
old4570:
Now lets get back to output .. Output is blocked by the flashlight body , all those nice looking bezels that people like to use block spill .. The larger the bezel - deeper , the more spill is lost , so output is lost ..
If you were to test a standard L2 , Actually I will ...
With bezel in place [ standard L2 Defencive Bezel ] 266OTF Lumens
Now lets remove the bezel [ Only ] and see how we go = 330OTF Lumens
So simply removing the bezel increases outout [ Spill ] and gains us 64Lumens
So if you chose a host body that blocks less spill , your output should increase ...
Lights with brighter spill / wider spill / such as XP-G and XM-L will be more affected by blockage from the bezel , and you will see greater gains , from removing said blockage ..
Hope this helps ...

yeah, my manafont dropin's spill is unbelievably narrow, even with the high profile flat SS bezel, in my L2. The small bezel ring would cut less off.

You could simply take a stock bezel , and grind it down ..
If I ever get a lathe I will simply macine them down till they are as small as possible ...
The only thing a want from the bezel is to hold the lens in place ...

I've actually just put the lens in, stabilized it with some foil, and stuck the funny shaped oring over the lens, and it doesn't fall out, no matter how hard I shake.

I have a SST 50 , and with the Ultrafire L2 , with bezel it puts out about 520 , when I remove the bezel , its 620 , 100Lumen lost from the bezel ..
So like I said , the more spill the emitter has , the more output is lost . Im going to minimize the bezel and see what happens .
Still I would need a lathe to bevel the inside cleanly . But I will see what I can do .

Or make a clone from a genuine Foyzel TM.

The cheaper flat bezel might be even better as it is shorter and only $2.50 (plus $2 p&p)

I have a SkyRay P60 host I use with my XM-L build and it seems to have a better opening than a SF standard bezel. The bezel is shiny metal and may even contribute to the reflections. This is the one I recommend.
