I’m looking for a flashlight which is about the length of your hand (or somewhere in the ball park). I need MAX throw with MAX lumens on target. I really want the flashlight to have a “WOW” factor to it with in use. Let me know if you have any experience with any of these. Good and bad.

HD2010: UPDATE: 5/19!! Review: ULTRAFIRE HD2010 from Tmart (warning: lots of pics!!)

hah?? apparently I’m the first voter.
ZYT08, the cheapest yet the host is really a thrower.
if not satisfy with the stock performance, just upgrade the driver and immediately better WOW

another for your thought is Trustfire X9 (need to change driver for at least 3.5A). It is smaller head than ZYT08 but the spot is much tighter. as your needs is to cover spot on 2000 feet, both of them will still be difficult to reach that point.

Jacob A60: Review: Jacob A60 XR-E thrower (1x18650) Pic Heavy

I don’t have one but it can be had for about $75 if you use coupons. EA8. I hear it throws slightly more than my FenixTK41 which is a very good throw light. One of my best.

I take it the Home Depot ST 3C is too long? It’s only $23, and less with military discount.

You guys just don’t make it easy do you! I was hoping this vote would be the “say-all” on the topic for a while…. but NOOOOOO. We gotta add more lights to the mix 8)

I’ve heard about the Jacob A60, just looks large. And yes, the Home Depot light is way too big for what I need. I heard rave reviews, just too large.

I’ll have to look into the EA8 Chidwack2

The Home Depot Defiant Super Thrower, definitely!

Jake a60 is really not that large. Slightly bigger than xinTD c8.

I’m thinking about this, and I still think the solution is to speak to one of the modders on here, I’m wondering if there’s an ahorton lense that could be fitted in a c8 host, drive a dedomed copper mounted xp-g2 at 3+amps and I think it’ll do it.

I’m beginning to see what you mean Gords. Seems as though there are a bunch of lights out there that throw well, but aren’t maxed out. I wouldn’t mind spending 30 bucks on a cool light to try it out, and then maybe get a custom one made. I’m still a deer in headlights with some of the things you guys say, and I can only imagine how opinionated everyone will be when we start talking about the nitty gritty of what brand solder they use LOL.

For now I would like to see how the votes go.

if I was you, I’d get a zy-t08 from fasttech, some sanyo 2900mah protected cells, same supplier, your at $35 and I got this exact combo for someone last month, without mods I was seeing 3a at the tailcap ie the emitter was driven at cree’s recommended maximum current.

If that wont throw far enough, contact Tom e on here, he’s built a few kick arse zy-t08’s now and can pretty much double the throw on them, he’d also lose the strobe modes into the bargain, that is one item not on this poll, you said the light cannot have a strobe. The zy-t08 does I think have no mode memory, so if its off for a minute or so its back on high which does hide the strobe if you stick to the on, off for a minute rule, it can also be locked out so it wont activate on you. I find mine is no issue in the pocket of a jacket or fleece, or a cargo trouser pocket.

There is also the asgard from fasttech, its a zy-t08 with a very cool driver you can program from your android phone by blue tooth, unfortunately its too new to have gone under the scalpel yet but you can set up your modes to suit you and it does strike me as very moddable in due time.

oh, if you do order from fasttech, dont forget to use blf as a coupon code for 5% off.

My favorite light on your list is the XinTD v4 by far. It’s an XM-L2! It comes with a choice of modes and LED tint when you order! The construction is totally solid, and they’ve even added an AR coated lens to the V4! All this for $29.95! I’ve ordered 3 of the V3 models for my friends in the past already. (All of them A&Ps) This light is winner.

But if it’s ONLY about throw, the HD2010 is a little bit better.
Downfalls with the HD2010:
*Crappy PWM on lower modes
*Heavier and larger, not very pocketable. (but it’s very solid.)
*No choice of modes, and has strobe (blech.)
*No choice of LED tint
*Does not come in XM-L2 (that I’m aware of)

There are plenty of lights on your list I don’t have, so others will have to chime in on those.

A tweaked out C8 (build I did) can do about 100 kcd with a de-dedomed XM-L2, 3.85A Nanjg. Didn't try an XP-G2 though - should be better. Pretty amazin compact thrower though, doing 632 meters.

Now there’s a C8 I wouldn’t mind having… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I mean, I like my XinTD C8 V3, but a maxed-out V4 would be way better. That’s more throw than a TK75, but in a host small enough to fit in a pocket or purse. If you decide to make more (especially if you try XP-G2 and can get even more throw), sign me up.

+1

I might try it in a Convoy C8 host - i got a couple of them. Bad thing is the small alum pill with non-standard threads, so can't use a stock brass C8 pill. The reflector I can change out to an SMO though.
