KD programmable Akoray K-106 - memory retention and emitter swap questions

Does the programmable Akoray K-106 retain the programmed memory modes after battery change?

If so - how long does it keep them before it resets to some factory defaults?

Also - will there be any benefit to change the emitter to XP-G or XM-L, if I use it only with AA batteries? (Alkalines or NiMH)

Yes, it does retain the programmed modes. It seems to keep them indefinitely, because I store mine without a battery.

It says 21mm inner diameter and the K-106 is 20mm, but looks like it's flexible... DX reviews about http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/fenix-diffuser-lens-ad401-p-5791 (should fit 20mm-21.5mm) say it is too wide for the K-106, so I don't know how to take the 21mm one...
