Hey, gang. It's been a real rough past couple of weeks and especially this past weekend. My precious Buddy has been diagnosed with liver cancer this past Friday and is in bad shape. We are trying what we can to get him better and are praying for a miracle. He is just 5 or 6 yrs old and we only just got him about 8 months ago when he found us and came into our lives. He is the most awesome dog I've ever known and we can't imagine life without him. We were hoping for at least another 6-8 years with him but that has tragically been cut short and it is breaking our hearts.
Buddy (aka "Pooh Bear") has already lost 3-4 lbs of his former 16lb frame and has completely lost his appetite. Thankfully he is still drinking but it goes right through him. There is an outside chance that his liver is simply inflamed but the doctors are 80% positive it's cancer judging from the tests. It's killing me now writing this as I'm trying not to cry like a baby so I will cut it short and just ask for your prayers, thoughts and healing energies to be sent to Buddy so he has a better shot of getting better.
Just so you can see who you are helping, here are a couple pics taken this weekend.
It’s sad when a pet is ill. As a kid I went through this things from time to time. It’s pretty hard to lose a dog to illness or worse, it’s probably why I’ve stuck with fish for a while. Stay strong, hope he pulls through. Rescuing dogs and cats is a noble thing, and if buddy doesn’t make it- honor him by doing the same for another neglected or abused pet. It’s great that you’ve taken him in and given him an awesome life, even though he’s sick- I’m sure he’s happier now than he’s been in a long time.
Thanks so much! I've had to put down dogs in the past but only after having them for 16 years. I feel so angry right now for having my time with him cut short. He is the sweetest, most loving dog we've ever had and it's hard to imagine a life without him now that we've been blessed by him.
Heads up JM. It’s OK and good for a man to cry for his faithful companion. May you and Buddy bond in Spirit and Mind for an eternity. Buddy will live on in heart and memory. Memories will heal hearts and souls.
Many thoughts and prayers to you and Buddy! He looks like such a sweet guy (as I'm sure he is).
I have two dogs now that I adore, but have had to put down 2 in the past. One was very old (it was still hard), the other was only 1 year. BOTH times were a gut wrenching experience that I hated.
My thoughts are with you johnny. Had to put my dog Fox down when he was 7. Worst feeling in the world to being your best friend to be put down. Hope he can pull out of it and live a long life, for both your sake!
