Well, I ordered a little C8 off of Aliexpress, and it said it was an XM-L2 U3, well I got it today, and it is so marked on the opposite side of the Ultrafire Nameplate.
Was still uncertain, but I saw this:

it seems to be a useful tool, but the fields won’t populate, there doesn’t seem to be a calculate button
It also shows XP-E2 R4 and XP-G2 S2.
It works fine for me. It auto populates and recalculates.
The first column works ok for me, second one sometimes, third one is dead…. So it probably depends on browser settings.

Good news ! But now I hesitate to buy one high-quality flashlight because Cree might come out with a U4 in 3 months and L3 serie next year. 
Also don’t trust unknow chinese vendors, its very hard to tell the difference between bins and obviously lying augment the sells.
If you think that from U2 to U3 is something huge than relax, it's the usual 7% difference. Secondly the first the green tints show up like 2S and and then 1C and 1B. For me those tints make the 7% mean zero. I think that CREE won't come with a new bin until the next 6 month at least.
I don’t think they’d even make a U4…
I’m guessing the XM-L3 will come out in 2015.
Sigh. And my shocker is getting U2’s installed now…

Output and throw is crazy now.
Mine got XM-L2 T6 3C’s put in it. Luminous Flux isn’t everything.
