How do I take apart the head on a 9xT6 trustfire? Seriously I must be missing something but I just can’t get this head apart. I want to fix an emitter that is half cooked but I can’t get to it. The driver will not come out, the reflector must be screwed on but I can’t unscrew it because the driver is in the way. What am I missing.

Screws holding the reflector & baseplate together hiding behind the driver? Not seen that particular one but that's how most of them are. Post some pics?
the smooth ring at the very top unscrews but it won't unscrew all the way because the reflector stops it. I'm guessing the reflector is it'self screwed on like most of them are. But I can't get to the screws holding the reflector on because that driver is actually under a the aluminum lip. I have tried using pliers on the head thinking maybe there is yet another spot in unscrews but if there is it's tougher than me.
My guess would be that the retaining ring on the driver is removeable. Could try to drill some divets/holes in the ring and slip some needle nose in it the remove it. (last pic)
It might be worth a shot but it looks like that ring is all one piece, the threads don’t go all the way down.
The part that really stinks is that I just ordered another one that I was going to de-dome so I would have one with regular one and one with more neutral that throws a little more. It’s frustrating as all hell.
Ha success. The driver was just jammed in so tight it wouldn’t come out. I finally pried and pried out it gave a little then I got under it with very this blade and popped it out.

18650, how much brighter would you say this light is compared to the SRK? I saw your post in that other thread. I’m wondering if I should even bothering with a Kung if the 9x is gonna be way brighter. Thx

It’s a lot brighter how much I don’t know but it’s the only one of the multi-emitters that I have that blows away my king (I have one of the good ones) Not even the J-18 comes close to this light. I also have a 6T6 and until it was heavily modded it didn’t come close to this either. Now it does but it gets so hot that it’s really only good for a short walk. I can walk for an hour with this 9xcree trustfire.
I bought both of them from the same seller on e-bay “zone2you” Is there name. I paid $54 for the first one and they kicked me back $5 for the half baked emitter that I’m changing now. And even with that one emitter not working properly it still blows away all the other multi-emitters I have tried. Well not the BTU shocker for throw but the head isn’t huge either. I just won one for $45.89. They shipped the last one very fast. I guess that’s what an e-packet does is gets to you fast. I think it was the fastest shipping from China yet.
Oh and the add doesn’t say trustfire but it’s what they are selling.
I guess since I have this apart now I’m going to de-dome the six outside emitters and re-wire with 20 gauge wire.
