Temperature of lead acid (Pb) battery while charging?

Hello guys, got a question for the battery experts, I have a 24v 20AH lead acid battery (Pb) for a cordless lawn mower that I am charging using an accucell charger, I set the current to 1/10c or 2000ma, so far the battery has taken about 5000ma charge and it has started to get warm to the touch, it is now about 115 degrees Fahrenheit according to my IR thermometer, how hot should it get before I worry? Thanks!

Does your accucell go to 24v? (28v or whatever the max charge v is)

my accucell 6 only goes to 20v and not suitable.

Is your charger auto or manual for pb?

Depends on a lot of things about the actual battery, not just the chemistry, it’s likely to be a deep cycle battery and these can and do get a bit hotter, I wouldn’t worry so long as it is not gassing(if sealed venting or bulging) and charges ok, as you no doubt know some parts of calif/nev reach 130F anyway to start with!!

One of the batteries was bad, replaced it and the pack is charging at room temperature with no problems, I have the accucell 8150, it can charge up to 36v pb or 8 li-ion or 27 nimh/ nicd in series.
