Brightest AA flashlight around 10$ from Fasttech?

hi, anyone can help me to choice 2 decent and bright AA flashlights from Fasttech?
I have many flashlight, but now i need to buy 2 simple and cheap torches to give to my mother and my granny
One mode is the best choice or it should have the memory!
Thank you!

Sipik clone?

but which one? i have had one from ebay but it was not bright at all :frowning:
I’m curious to this http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10004842/1374800-mini-xl-48-cree-xp-e-r2-3-mode-120-lumen-white-led …anyone knows it?

How bright should a AA light be?
AA batteries are no good source for high currents and so the lights aren’t bright…
You have to think of the forward voltage of the LEDs which is twice the voltage of the battery
So 1A through LED equals 2A from battery…and so the lights aren’t so bright<100lumen
The normal china AA drivers are 500mA-1000mA, and these are in the sipiks.

But I would say a 50lumen sk68 is still brighter than the lights the most people use…

Also you need to use rechargeable batteries or lithium batteries for such currents normal alkaline aren’t made for that…

The brightest and cheapest AA is probably a Balder SE1 XM-L with rated 160lumens, but it costs 25$ and has 3 modes…

So the way to go is to order some sk68s, maybe even an original sipik. I have half a dozen sk68s and just one was totally crap and this was the cheapest for 4$ and I got a refund…

If a sk sk68 isn't bright enough for you than nothing on a AA is going to impress you ...and certainly nothing under 10$

I'd buy another sk 68 and maybe the one you linked to ..Maybe you just got a bad one

or

Buy a pair of 14500's and get an eagletac D25a if you want bright in a AA/14500 format

I always forget to ask ...What lights do you already own ..?? You said you were a cpf mamber and have many lights ..So now it's time to impress us all with your expensive lights .:P

What lights do you own ?

I don't know that light, but the description says it has three modes and no memory.

I'm guessing you weren't impressed with your SK68 because you were using an alkaline in it. You may like it more if you put a 14500 in it...

Alkalines are probably what you want for your mother and grandmother. And while you may not be happy with them, they might be. I would suggest you try a light that is intended only for AA cells because the AA driver may be more efficient than a 14500 capable driver that is fed with an AA.

1.5 volt lights just don't compare well with 3.7 volt lights, as Werner explained above. They are handicapped to begin with, so finding one that impresses for less than $10 may be difficult.

My only suggestion is to increase your budget and look for a 2xAA light.

Edit: This thread has a similar topic.

Under $10 I would probably get one of the C3 lights as I don’t like zoomies.

But if you can choose from other dealers I would look for something with a XP-G LED.

+1, that C3 SS is my favourite, buy a lot of them.
the older version use to have XRE Q5. now the use XPE.
the one on FT doesn’t has brand marking, so looks real nice.

thank you all guys
I think i got a bad Sipik clone because it was no bright also with the 14500!

Maybe for my granny isn’t good a zoom light :stuck_out_tongue: …the C3 SS coul’d be a better choice! Anyone can tell me if it reachs about 100 lumens with an eneloop?
Than i could buy also a light with xpg like this http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10000518/1052605-trustfire-r5-a3-cree-xp-g-r5-3-mode-230lm-memory-l
Who know also these?

@Boaz
I’m a member of CPF Italy, not International  …i haven’t many expensive light, i’m just a poor university guy :stuck_out_tongue: …but i love flashlights and i have just a little collection! Maybe i could publish some pics of them

That G10 is a great light for the money I have a single mode and it rocks with a 14500 and is still nice with a AA I am ordering the 5 mode now!

Made well nice red O rings two in the front one in the back solid feel. Better than the S10. I have that one as well and the threads are a little short. The G10s are solid

I prefer my single mode G10 over the SK68 also. If you can get it for ten bucks I’d go that route.

Check out Torch Light C78. Even though it’s very old model, IMO, it’s the brightest 1xAA light.

(A little fatter, longer, but brighter than G10 w/ 1xAA)

I don’t have a C78 but it looks like it’s only a Q3. Are you sure that’s driven hard enough to be brighter than an XP-G R5?

The brightness of G10 is with 1x14500 battery, but there were reports that 14500 burns out G10. C78 is a Zoomer so the comparison is not exactly 1:1, but I can comfortably say that C78 is brighter especially when zoomed out despite it’s only Q3.

Here’s a nice review:
C78 review

I own a G10 and it’s a nice little light on AA and a burner on 14500’s. Reports of drive failure with a 14500 are with the multi mode models. The single modes don’t seem to have a problem with 14500’s. I don’t have a C78 but I do have two other Q3’s that don’t impress me at all. If I needed another AA light I’d go buy one to try out on your reco. Sad to say I have lights laying all over the place already and the wife is bound to catch yet another padded envelop from overseas!

Not suggesting you get C78 even when you have G10. Suggesting get C78 when thinking of getting G10.

A G10 single mode is my edc (14500). My father edc’s one too (AA).
Here’s a video of my Uniquefire G10 XP-G in action.

Its around $13.50 at FT after discount.

you have convinced me  One G10 is sure! Than i can take a SS C3….and maybe a third one for me, but i’m undecided!…I should take two of one of these? or there is another good one like these?

@BlightSam thank you for the C78 but now i don’t ask a zoomer and than DX is bad for Italy……a shipment requires at least 2 months |(
