Cracking Switch Boot On Nitecore EA4

Anyone else experiencing this? BTW, the cracks were not caused by my fingernail. I'm thinking it's just poor quality rubber since the light was only used on rare occasions. I'm going to contact Illumination Supply to see if I can get a replacement boot..

That's bad. I suppose it is something we all have been waiting for after all the reports of flimsy switch boots of the EA4. I hope there is a replacement.

It’s something that will happen to all who have the EA4. I’m sure mine will break too.
Nitecore should prepare a replacement for all of us, they have made a big mistake with a premium flashlight, they must take responsibility for their mistakes.

Sucks doesn't it. One other thing I should mention, I've never experienced the "ballooning" boot others have experienced which could possibly cause cracking. Hopefully Nitecore is aware of this problem and are making newer EA4's with a more durable silicon rubber.

In my house there are 2 EA4. And I always say, very carefully with the switch !!.
ever so carefully Really Sucks.

I'm extremely careful. I make it a point to never press rubber buttons with my fingernail. This is a case of poor materials on a premium brand flashlight. There's no excuse for it.

Sorry to hear Glenn… this sucks. Hopefully they fix this for you.

Wow, thanks for posting this. I really hope Nitecore resolve this for you.

Thanks Chloe :) I purchased it from Illumination Supply which has great customer service. I'm sure it will be resolved even if I have to purchase a new boot..

Glenn, I noticed that your switch was looking a lot worse than mine. I didn’t notice the cracks though. That sucks. I fully expect mine to do the same at some point.
It doesn’t get a lot of use now though with the D40A here. My EA4W doesn’t even have cells in it right now.
Once you get a switch, taking that thing apart to change it out could be interesting. O-L did it once in a tear-down which might help.

Darren, when you were here a few weeks ago I didn't notice the cracks. Strange thing, I haven't used it since your visit... BTW, I sent Illumination Supply a message with a link to this thread...

Darn, that’s too bad. Mine came from FastTech…sitting here waiting for it to explode some day. Guess they will all suffer from it eventually.

Step up NITECORE !

Sad to say, but I get the feeling that a lot of these lights are designed to last long enough to impress a reviewer and make people go “WOW!” for five minutes while they show it off to their friends.

Durability and reliability seem to be distant considerations. Maybe that’s why they’re $40 lights instead of $80 lights. Hats are cheap. Cattle cost money.

Nitecore will never get my business again if they don't take care of this issue. I do not put blame on the seller at all. It's a Nitecore problem!! I hope the rest of you stand behind me....

I'll be talking to our sales rep at Nitecore for their response.

Look behind you. Now pretend I’m standing there
We’re here for ya! Especially us that have EA4s with doomed switch boots.
Edit: Thanks Calvin, looking forward to hearing what they say.

Thanks Calvin, and everyone else for the support!

Rick, sorry for the delayed response. Thanks buddy!!

I’m with others here. The boot on mine isn’t doing well either. Just a matter of time I guess. I’m thinking of putting a dab of silicone on my swtch before it goes south to basically beef it up.
