Hi all!
I have been reading BLF for over a year and although I do not post very much (mostly smart remarks OT) I am enjoying this place very much.
As I stated earlier I don't think I qualify as a real flashaholic but am more drawn to outdoor activities and related stuff in general. Lots of my gear get broken or lost when outdoors, so I tend to choose budget items when not critical for safety.
BLF is the best place for, well, budget lights, and I have received tons of useful information and inspiration. For example thanks to old4570, Match and Don I am the proud owner of a XP-G R5 infinitely variable output MiniMag which served before only as a spare batteries container.
I am rather not so often online and can seldom contribute with helpful information, so I thought a good way to say Thank You All would be a giveaway.
So, here are the items (flashlights, of course):
Nr 1: A Nuflare Rebel 90
Never heard of Nuflare before, but everything in this flashlight says "Romisen" to me, especially the forward clicky inside the tailcap (does lockout). Don't know if it can take a 16340 cell, there is also a 2 x CR123A version but that probably has a different driver. The beam of this single mode light is not really flood-to-throw, more wide flood-to-narrow flood. Good build quality and blueish silver anodizing.
Nr. 2: Another Nuflare Rebel 90
This is more or less identical to Nr. 1 but in AA. Again, I don't have any idea if this would survive a 14500 cell, but there exists also a 2 x AA version, so it's not impossible.
Nr. 3: A Silva Siju
It's what I would call an emergency type headlamp running on 2 CR2032. It has a built-in carrying pouch and 3 modes (16lm or 48hrs runtime or blinking), always comes on in "high". As you can see the light is mainly build aroung a big switch making it easy to use with gloves/mittens. To prevent from accidently turning it on you have to push and hold the button for ~1s to activate it. And yes, the red colour is pinkish (sorry for the not-so-foyish pic quality).
Now, before you get too excited I would like to define some rules:
This giveaway is to thank all the members of BLF but I feel that I want to particularly recognize the older (membership-wise) members of this forum, therefore the following rules.
- There will be 3 seperate raffles via random.org, one for each item
- For every ~3 month of membership you can vote for one item/raffle
- The time limits are 01/02/11 and 01/11/10
- The deadline for entering the raffle(s) ends 15/05/11 at noon GMT
So, if you signed up on BLF between now and 01/02/11 you can choose one light/raffle. If your membership dates from before 01/11/10 you can participate in all three raffles. And if you have entered BLF as a member after Halloween last year but before 01/02/11 you can choose two items you would like to win.
I hope those who rather recently signed up for BLF share/understand/respect my desire to honour especially the senior members of this great forum who started it all.
Please keep it easy for me and write in the subject line e.g. "I want Nr 1 and Nr 3".
So enjoy and "choose wisely" ;)
