XM-L U2 on 10mm Base

Just in case you havent seen it [ picture ]

XP-G R5 and XM-L U2 on 10mm Base ... = Mod Options !

1: where?

2: how much?

3: gimmie gimmie gimmie!

(okay, well, #3's unnecessary if you can tell me #1 & #2)

XML on a 10mm base would be great for Mag mods. So far, Ive only seen the bases sold separatley. Did you mount the LED's to the bases yourself? GIVE IT UP OLD!!... darn you!

Went to Cutter this morning for some U2 goodness ...

Asked them if they were doing the XM-L on a 10mm base yet , and they said yes ... So I got one .

Yeah . mag mod would rock ...

Also I was thinking AAA light ... But pulling the pills out of a Maratac ? Not sure it can be done ..

I tried one and broke the batt board lose [ connects batt - driver ] , thank goodness it went back ok , but that pills not comming out ..

So i havent given up on the other one as yet , Imagine a 600Lumen AAA/10440 .... [ I can ]

Who makes the ITP ? Sure would like to get my hands on a parts light and assemble myself ... [ With the U2 ] That would be something .

ATM Im just looking at my very small collection of AAA and wondering which pill will come out ...

So.. basically.. I can't get one yet.

Sad. so sad. so very very sad. Why did you do this, only to break my little black heart?

How much was the xml mounted on 10mm after shipping?

I tried to use XP-G R4 driven at 1,4 amps with 3XAAA alkalines. Did not work, they could'nt deliver it. 1X10440 with hard driven XML could be a great "wow" light, but how long would it run on high?

I drive over there and buy them over the counter ... So with the price of fuel ATM ...

$6 @ Gallon , maybe a gallon of fuel to drive there + Invoice sais $10.68 + 10% GST

All up I spent $44.56 on Emitters , + Fuel so that = about $50 even ...

Got 3 x XM-L U2 + a XP-G R5 , and $50 is about my monthly flashlight budget , so there goes the budget for May .

It would be a wow light , but dont forget its got modes , Med - Lo - High .. So it would start in medium - then go -Low and then if you had to - high ..

This is why I would love to mod one to XM-L , but the pills are glued down tight ...and I dont want to destroy it ... [ been there done that ]

Cutter's a _store_? damn, I thought it was some guy who was selling custom work that you just happened to know. Then you got your hands on some prototypes to make us cry.

Next trip: Australia!

What shipping is right ....Cutter has free shipping in AU this month so obviously you like driving over there ..I think I'd save the driving for next month when it isn't free .

...but then he'd have to wait!!! :P

I wanted it now !

+ Australia post seems to be getting sticky fingers , If I drive over and get it , its going in my pocket , not some one elses .

Some low life @ Aust Post has my Nitecore AA

The ITP A series is so tightly glued that destroying the light is the only way to get it apart. I read a thread about it some time ago when I was thinking about converting mine to XPG. Can 10440's be found in IMR LiMN? I dont think Id try to drive it with a LiCO. Also, the capacity would probably be less than 2 minutes with intermittent use in direct drive. Why not try a 14500 host? Then you could push the LED far harder, have a lot more capacity and probably come up with a good 2 - 3A driver to fit. Or pick a light that is already very heavily driven from Don's spreadsheet and know that any upgrade from XPG to XML will net an instant 20% increase in lumens with a massive hot spot; and even more with XRE.

In fact, the Uniquefire AA-S1 might be a great place to start. It screams with 14500 and will likely give even more current with an XML since you'd be replacing the osram LED with one of far less resistence. I doubt the driver uses 7135 or similar current limiter. Every stock light that Ive modded from XRE to XPG fed A LOT more current to the lower resistence LED, often overdriving it past 1.5A... perfect for XML.

Your thoughts?

I actually build a Dual XM-L P60 drop in , and Im giving one XM-L U2 away ... I might see if I can source a ITP in parts from the manufacturer ...????

I already have a Trustfire F20 XM-L T5 and the Ultrafire A20 XM-L T5 , My Uniquefire AA-S1 has been given a buck boost driver [ 5 mode ]

Multi mode Osram , I like it .. Its not overly bright on Nimh , but its very well regulated ..

On a 14500 its very nice ...

Maybe the Tank007 ? , I really wanted a AAA XM-L , I will see about getting a parts light ...

Yeah if you can get an unasembled ITP that would be great....lets hope they don't try to insist you buy a thousand of them :P
